Chris Nelson’s Saturday Kembla Grange Preview Posted on November 21, 2024November 21, 2024 | Posted by Chris Nelson RACE 1 Big day of racing at Kembla on Saturday with ‘The Gong’ being the highlight where they’ll be going around for a million bucks at Group 3 level. We get things underway with a Highway & as is the norm in these races the market is wide open! SUNCHYME is only lightly raced & both runs this prep have been with merit, the latest saw her held up before finding the line well to be beaten only a small margin. First try at 1400m she should land a good run from the favourable draw. GENTILESCHI will have her supporters off a solid fresh run when trapped wide from the second to outside gate, step up in trip is a definite plus. EVERIDO definitely in the mix, game in defeat this grade last start. Numbers: 17 – 4 – 19 – 20 Suggested Bet: SUNCHYME EACH-WAY (small bet). RACE 2 MONTE SUPREME was responsible for some very slick sectionals at Rosehill a fortnight back closing strongly in the run to the line to beat home all bar the winner. She did peak a little late however that wasn’t unexpected after making such a long-sustained run. MISS HADES doesn’t look far away, should get the right run from an inside gate. FUMIKO might be one to include in exotics, formerly with Tony Gollan she’s now with the local Mitch Beer yard & can reel off a strong finish. Numbers: 12 – 2 – 16 – 5 Suggested Bet: MONTE SUPREME EACH-WAY (small bet). RACE 3 Hard to tip against the very progressive PISANELLO who has returned to racing in great order this prep winning both outings firstly midweek at Warwick Farm (dominantly) before scoring again down the Flemington straight on the final day of the Cup Carnival. The only negative I have on him is a heavy track & that’s not likely. TRISTATE was never going to lose that last start, travelled so well tucked in behind the speed, looking for similar here does rise to a big weight though. HI DUBAI won’t be far away fresh. Numbers: 4 – 1 – 7 – 13 Suggested Bet: PISANELLO TO WIN. RACE 4 Always prefer to be with the runners who have upside in these races & the well performed yet lightly raced WOOLOOWIN certainly fits that mould. Only defeat came about on debut & that was a solid placing finding the line well. She’s gone on to win her next three & can add another picket to the fence today. GENTLY ROLLED is back in grade however up in weight whilst the on-pacer NINGALOO STAR who also accepted for Doomben (scratched) should box seat off the rails gate. Numbers: 6 – 2 – 1 – 8 Suggested Bet: WOOLOOWIN TO WIN. RACE 5 Keen to see a couple of imports go around in this race being ALALCANCE & GILDED WATER out of top yards. The former made her Australian debut 2 months back clearing out to win a Warwick Farm midweeker, although dominant the form out of the race going forward hasn’t been strong. GILDED WATER is owned by King Charles & makes his local debut, trials sound, big market watch. BULLET’S HIGH is very close to a breakthrough whilst CONCELLO caught the eye very late at her second run back. Numbers: 11 – 4 – 1 – 8 Suggested Bet: Box up top 4 selections in exotics. RACE 6 Up in class goes the promising BLAZING HARRY however he’s also down in weight which will help offset that. Yet to miss a placing at his 5 starts to date which includes 2 wins he should be right at his peak for the 1400m this afternoon. Very hard to beat. SALTCOATS is a horse I’ve always had time for yet he’s done me no favours to date, just gives the impression he could pull out a winning run at any time & I don’t want to miss out on that! Respect for HEED THE OMENS however the draw looks tricky. Numbers: 13 – 3 – 16 – 1 Suggested Bet: Box up top 4 selections in exotics. RACE 7 Good, solid looking BM88 with no shortage of winning chances. I’m leaning to CHICA MOJITO on an each-way basis, yes she’s yet to win beyond 1300m however she has put together some solid performances around this mile trip this prep & I don’t see it being an issue. The super consistent ESTADIO MESTALLA gets a cosy run from the good draw, well overdue for a win this could well be it. ROCK EMPIRE a likely improver. Numbers: 14 – 2 – 15 – 3 Suggested Bet: CHICA MOJITO EACH-WAY. RACE 8 The days feature is The Gong & I’m firmly in the corner of the Big Dance winner GRINGOTTS who once again draws wide & once again I’d expect Tommy Berry will be looking to offset the gate steadily working across to a spot in the first 4. He dominated that race & I’m of the opinion he’s a horse who can measure up to much stronger races going forward. TERRITORY EXPRESS is always running on & more often than not has a hard luck story to tell, the long run home here will suit. MIGHTY ULYSSESS is capable if in the mood. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 2 – 9 Suggested Bet: GRINGOTTS TO WIN. RACE 9 DRAGONSTONE is racing in terrific form this prep finishing close up behind I Am Me in a couple Everest lead ups before dropping in grade & settling on speed when successful at Randwick with 61kg. Races well here & drops a couple of kilos in the weights. FLEETWOOD is promising, resumes with a good first up record. The consistent IOWNA MERC has to be included, doesn’t win out of turn however well up to figuring in this finish. Numbers: 1 – 10 – 7 – 3 Suggested Bet: Box up top 4 selections in exotics. RACE 10 The last on a huge day where I’m with the very consistent IRON MAN who as I type doesn’t have a jockey engaged which is concerning as this looks a very suitable race for him having come up with a perfect gate. Spotted STARMAN making late ground between runners first up, his second up record isn’t flash & he’s burnt me before however I can’t completely leave out. DISNECK was good first up. Numbers: 4 – 9 – 12 – 16 Suggested Bet: Box up top 4 selections in exotics. Market Market
