Chris Nelson’s Saturday Rosehill Preview Posted on October 31, 2024October 31, 2024 | Posted by Chris Nelson RACE 1 Golden Eagle Day at Rosehill opens with a Highway where we’ll be looking at each-way odds the field. I’m with EVERIDO who has raced well this prep without much going his way. Unlucky (no run) here two back at this level before a similar story last start in midweek grade at Warwick Farm, he’s certainly due for a change of fortune. Stablemate MIGHTY MYRTLE has plenty of upside just has to deal with a wide draw, she can’t do any more than she’s doing at present which is winning races. King of the Highway’s Matt Dunn sends last start Ipswich winner BRAVELY around, must respect. Numbers: 3 – 5 – 2 – 1 Suggested Bet: EVERIDO EACH-WAY (small bet). RACE 2 I’m a fan of PIPPIE BEACH & am going to stick with her although yes, she was beaten fair & square in midweek company last start. Note she was only 7 days between starts into that race having won first up suggesting the just over 3 week freshen into this is more suitable. Not sure the ‘magic man’ can make use of the good draw however I’m sure he’ll give her every chance. ASGARDA has a good strike rate & closed off well in the Kosciuszko, should figure in the finish. AFRICAN DAISY pulled up lame fresh, she can bounce back into the placings. Numbers: 10 – 3 – 6 – 2 Suggested Bet: PIPPIE BEACH TO WIN. RACE 3 Apart from the Ciaron Maher trained LAUDING & the Taree trained FAY’S ANGELS we’re basically dealing with midweek form here. FAY’S ANGELS does appear well placed with only 54.5kg after the claim. Placed here & Taree her past couple she maps well from the good gate & does look overs in the early market. AMBASSADORIAL takes on 2000m for the first time, certainly in the right stable to see it out. Can also make cases for nos.1, 2, 8 & 9. Numbers: 4 – 5 – 9 – 2 Suggested Bet: FAY’S ANGELS EACH-WAY. RACE 4 Winning form is the best form & that’s exactly what SPANISH FOX has plenty of having won his past 4 starts. Yes, they were in weaker company however the majority have been comprehensive suggesting he can measure up with the lighter weight a positive. IRON MAN has chased home the consistent Willaidow 3 of his past 4 starts beating him on one other occasion, good form lines for this. FIRE STAR is another in winning form well worth including. Numbers: 2 – 4 – 5 – 8 Suggested Bet: Box up top 4 selections in exotics. RACE 5 A half-million dollar Midway! With very little confidence I will lean to PIRAEUS who is second favourite in early markets at almost double-figure odds, that suggests just how open this race is. He’s hit the line quite well both outings this time in & the slightly longer trip works in his favour. Wide draw for ALABAMA STATE however anything can happen here, I wouldn’t be ruling out any widely drawn runners. His form this time in has been excellent. HARLOW MIST strips fitter, in good hands & this may be a target race for her. Numbers: 9 – 16 – 5 – 15 Suggested Bet: Box up as many as possible in exotics! RACE 6 Tough race. Safest option could well be the consistent TRISTATE who although doesn’t win too often is rarely far away from the placings. Solid effort last start off a month’s break this track & trip suits him nicely. DOLLAR MAGIC ran well fresh behind a smart type & does hold a very solid second up record. Keeping the resuming INFATUATION very safe, narrowly beaten first up last prep when having issues he’s had a trial this time around which wasn’t the case last time. Numbers: 3 – 4 – 5 – 1 Suggested Bet: TRISTATE EACH-WAY (small bet). RACE 7 A number of the Everest contenders go around here including the victor BELLA NIPOTINA who I just cannot tip against. Yes, that was her Grand Final however most of the races she goes around in are just that yet she just doesn’t seem to lose any form. Drawn a better gate here she has to be the top tip once again. SUNSHINE IN PARIS ran well in the Everest, dry track definitely in her favour today. PRIVATE EYE was also sound, his lead up form had been very good, if the gaps come for him in the straight he’ll be right in the finish. Numbers: 3 – 4 – 1 – 2 Suggested Bet: BELLA NIPOTINA TO WIN. RACE 8 Feature of the day is the 10-million-dollar Golden Eagle which is a cracking race made that way by the inclusion of the international raiders particularly LAZZAT from France & ASCOLI PICENO from Japan. I’ve always considered the Japanese horses the best in the world & that being the case I have to be with the Kuroiwa trainer runner who brings winning Group 1 form to the race. The gates not ideal, there’s no getting away from that however at least she won’t be running into dead ends down the straight. JOLIESTAR the best of the locals, she found this Everest too short, this is clearly more to her liking. No knock LAZZAT, how could I? He’s yet to be beaten in 6 starts! Can’t wait for this race! Numbers: 19 – 16 – 12 – 1 Suggested Bet: Box up top 4 selections in exotics. RACE 9 I’ll stick with the third-up NONCONFORMIST however I can’t say I have a great deal of confidence in the race. He ran quite well off a long break before ok the latest & note there was a 5-week gap between those starts, he’ll need things to pan out early from the wide alley. Convinced one of these new imports can figure in the finish being RELENTLESS VOYAGER & SAGANTI, I’d be keeping both safe as they are out of very good stables. FAWKNER PARK, backs up off a solid finish last start & will strip fitter, needs to stand up here, I’m now thinking that winter staying form in Brisbane was overrated. Numbers: 2 – 4 – 10 – 1 Suggested Bet: Box up top 4 selections in exotics. RACE 10 Open looking race to finish the day with the first up winner from the Joe Pride stable BULLET’S HIGH getting the nod. I liked the way he let down & ran over the top of his rivals first up, he was the only runner in the race to make any real ground & will appreciate the slightly longer trip today. BATTLETON is close however he’s been that way for some time, the big weight does concern me. Surely CAPTAIN FURAI improves, showed plenty first prep however was flat first up. Numbers: 9 – 1 – 7 – 5 Suggested Bet: BULLETS HIGH EACH-WAY (small bet) Market Market
