Chris Nelson’s Saturday Eagle Farm Preview Posted on October 31, 2024October 31, 2024 | Posted by Chris Nelson RACE 1 Saturday racing at Eagle Farm gets under way with the youngsters doing battle & of the 9 acceptors we’ve only see 2 at the races to date, market moves around the debutantes will be all important. CUDDLES FOR KIMMY looked good winning her trial by a healthy margin, she than brought that form to town scoring at Doomben after being held up in the straight. Further improved she looks the runner to beat. LOCKYER from the Gollan yard has trialled well enough without doing anything exceptional, MADDIE’S COMET also looked good winning her heat. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 8 – 9 Suggested Bet: CUDDLES FOR KIMMY WIN BEST (monitor market re debutantes). RACE 2 Early odds for the last start Listed winner NIKAU SPUR look quite appealing here considering he did account for a number of these when victorious on that occasion & with Cody Collis’ claim will carry exactly the same weight. Can’t see the drop back in distance (200m) causing any concerns & from the good alley he should land a decent enough run. KIRKEBY was a little flat late in the same race, no surprise to see a little more zip about him today whilst ARTFUL GIRL may end up leading in what looks a very leisurely run affair on paper with no obvious leader engaged. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 7 – 6 Suggested Bet: NIKAU SPUR TO WIN (small bet). RACE 3 I’ve been with POSEIDON RULER all prep & he finally ran into a placing last start although no match for the promising winner. He’ll go back here from a wide draw & will need things to pan out however should the breaks go his way he’s an each-way chance once again. CARTWHEELS comes out of the same race when first up, only lightly raced she’s yet to miss a placing & clearly has good upside. JEALOUS a chance, will be suited stepping up to a mile. Numbers: 3 – 8 – 11 – 2 Suggested Bet: POSEIDON RULER EACH-WAY/Saving CARTWHEEL TO WIN. RACE 4 Well, we saw what the Toowoomba trained APUNTER is capable of when stepping up in distance with the blinkers going on last start. With tempo to suit also he went home right over the top of the leaders. He needs further again & gets that today stepping up 100m, looks the runner to beat. PROMINENT LAD was ok in the same race, didn’t hit the line with the same ‘gusto’ however should also appreciate further. After a couple of well backed misses OUR BENEFACTOR landed the cash last time, place chance. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 4 – 3 Suggested Bet: APUNTAR TO WIN RACE 5 The map is far from ideal for APPIN GIRL here unless she shows more speed than she’s ever done in the past however based on her first up win it’s very difficult to tip against her. Yes, she had tempo to suit from the back of the field however she was really ‘travelling’ into the straight & once through the gaps cruised clear. Class wise she’s got these covered it’s just the race dynamics which could bring about any downfall. If you’re not keen on the short odds UNO MOON will be a far better price & I’d suggest clearly overs, absolutely flying at the moment gets Emily Lang to steer with just the light weight, I’m convinced will give a sight. Numbers: 4 – 8 – 1 – 2 Suggested Bet: APPIN GIRL TO WIN/UNO MOON EACH-WAY. RACE 6 TRANSATLANTIC appeals here first up from a break having trialled well. Yes, he was out of the placings when resuming last prep however note he pulled up with a couple of issues post-race, he quickly bounced back to bolt in at his next outing though & then placed at Listed level two starts later. The southern visitor EPIC PROPORTIONS has excuses last start when caught wide, win & a placing prior Maloney will steer from the rails gate. PAYLINE found form last prep & did resume with a solid closing effort here fresh. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 3 – 11 Suggested Bet: TRANSATLANTIC TO WIN. RACE 7 Can’t believe I’m tipping WAIRERE FALLS here however he just looks the best placed runner in the race. He’s a little shy of the winning post we all know that however he was actually in front soon after the line last start… hopefully that’s a sign of things to come. KURUTO has plenty of weight however is a chance, ditto nos.3, 7 & 10 who should they win wouldn’t surprise in the slightest. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 3 – 7 – 10 Suggested Bet: Box up top 5 selections in exotics. RACE 8 Tough race where I’ve landed on the resuming OCEAN ZAR who although yet to win first up has placed twice fresh & I don’t mind her stepping out to 1400m, she usually resumes around the 1200m range. Market moves will be our best guide, hopefully she’s well supported. NSW visitor ANYTHINK GOES is on the quick 7-day back up moving states, should he handle that he’ll be right in the finish. NAVAL TRADER always a chance, rarely runs a bad race. Numbers: 9 – 4 – 2 – 3 Suggested Bet: Box up top 4 selections in exotics. RACE 9 Very keen on EXOTIQUE MISS to send us home on a winning note in this final race. She’s had the two outings this prep running very well in both with factors definitely against her. Now she gets out to a more suitable strip with no weight, plenty of ticks! Can find a spot for DUNE FORTY FIVE in the placings fresh, worth including in all exotics. 3, 6 & 7 all go forward, perhaps MANHOOD the best of those on recent form. Numbers: 10 – 2 – 3 – 6 Suggested Bet: EXOTIQUE MISS TO WIN Market Market
