Scott Embry’s Friday Carnarvon Preview Posted on June 11, 2024June 11, 2024 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 THE KING’S AFFAIR ran second behind Dragonflies in a maiden where they stopped the clock 5L faster than average. She did all the work in that event and they kicked right away from the rest of the field – including stablemate and main danger War Tactics. She’ll be extremely popular. WAR TACTICS looks the logical danger and should be another Pateman runner to be saluting the judge at some stage this season. FAIR GRACE was responsible for that speed and didn’t get beaten too far. MONETARY GAINS caught the eye late from a mile off. Numbers: 9 – 1 – 10 – 3 Suggested Bet – THE KING’S AFFAIR WIN RACE 2 WUHAN WARRIOR found the fence last start and that was the difference between firs-tup and second-up. First-up he was plunged ($4.40 into $1.90) – couldn’t lead and never looked comfortable. Last start was unwanted in betting but found the front and then the highly talented stablemate in Crystal Vain couldn’t reel him in. Expect them to throw the kitchen sink at him early to cross. TOMMY TO JACK has returned in excellent order. Just keeps running into one better than him. MOORUMBINE ran his usual honest race fresh. PURE DYNAMITE is going well. Numbers: 1 – 6 – 3 – 9 Suggested Bet – WUHAN WARRIOR WIN RACE 3 CRYSTAL VAIN vs HAFEY looks a fascinating clash and then throw in the likes of Speeding Comet, Regal City and Passport and you’ve got yourself a Friday afternoon cracker. Thinking that CRYSTAL VAIN can come through on top – massive win fresh and smashed the clock, massive effort second-up in defeat when the only horse to make any ground on stablemate Wuhan Warrior. Love the way he’s going. HAFEY dominated them with arrogance at his first start on the dirt. Will only get better over further which is daunting. PASSPORT is always there abouts. SPEEDING COMET turned back the clock last start. Numbers: 2 – 4 – 6 – 3 Suggested Bet – CRYSTAL VAIN WIN RACE 4 ORTUM KRISP can burrow through into a prominent spot in running. In an ideal world she shows enough dash to hold out Townsville / Wojtek – but if she’s crossed at least she’s seeming to get through the kick back well enough. Does look a big book on paper for Aaron Pateman. PEPPI GROVE is going better than numerical form suggests. TOWNSVILLE was too gritty for them last start and can go back to back without surprising. WHO’S YOUR MAMA sneaks back into a C3 second-up. Numbers: 2 – 10 – 6 – 1 Suggested Bet – ORTUM KRISP WIN RACE 5 SET THE SCENE loves dirt racing. Whether he gets the run of the race or whether he endures a horror run he’s still always right there in the finish. Can sit deep and sustain a run here, especially with the claim of Chanel Cooper and looks hard to toss. ALKALINE was a big follow run at his first dirt outing. If he could get his rating up he could well be a Cup horse this season. MULTINOVA MAN is his own worst enemy but has more than enough ability to be winning this race if he’s on his best behaviour. PORTRAIT LAO is going super. Numbers: 2 – 4 – 1 – 9 Suggested Bet – SET THE SCENE WIN RACE 6 HEARTFORD HOUSE is ‘Kristo in the last’. Opening meeting it was Protected Action at 50-1 and at the second meeting it was this horse at 20-1. He’s your ideal Carnarvon horse – he’s got gate speed, he’s got tactical speed and he’s tough in the finish. Can he ridden with a lot of aggression. WISE WORDS was the target of big betting support and it was spot on. While she didn’t win she was eye-catching in defeat. Big danger. MIR won the 1200 C3 on the same day and was very impressive in doing so. Can’t fault. PRIMATIVE was a good run at her first outing in the region and should only improve. Numbers: 6 – 4 – 6 – 12 Suggested Bet – HEARTFORD HOUSE WIN Quaddie (Race 3 – 6) 2,4 1,2,4,6,10 1,2,9,4 2,4,6 Market Market
