Scott Embry’s Saturday Pinjarra Preview Posted on February 16, 2024February 16, 2024 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 PATRON OF KINGS had his first start at Ascot which can always be a tricky track for those gallopers who like room to move and like to wind up into their races. He got cluttered away and never got into the race at any stage. He drops back into a Westspeed Platinum, he heads across to Pinjarra and he reunites with Jarrad Noske. Looks the big improver second-up. WITHOUT REG won powerfully three back, ran a solid third behind Gift Of The Heart and First Missile two back and then was a forgive run last start when nothing went right. Racing well. ARNIE’S BOY resumed in a 66+, sat wide throughout and kept coming. Big effort. BOAB BOY is flying. Numbers: 3 – 1 – 4 – 5 Suggested Bet – PATRON OF KINGS WIN RACE 2 BEATS OF WAR is bursting his way through the grades and could become a genuine country cups contender (be it Esperance / Albany / Geraldton or even a throw at the stumps in the Bunbury or Pinjarra Cups). He’s travelling brilliantly into his races, he’s showing a big turn of acceleration and he’s capable of sitting closer to them from a more favourable alley. Got shuffled back last start but it worked out fine, sat nearly leader’s back three back so can take full advantage of the draw. CAPTAIN PLUTO loses the senior rider but gets considerable weight on Beats Of War with an in form Madi Derrick jumping on. Just got too far out of his ground last start. Sectionally was fine. MANAVENDRA was a big winner two back and CJP opted for him over Beats Of War last start. SLUICE BOX showed that he’s getting closer. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 4 – 7 Suggested Bet – BEATS OF WAR WIN RACE 3 COMIC HERO will need the pattern of the day to allow for them to make ground – he’s always going to get back and rattle home, they’ve figured out that’s how to ride him and I doubt they’ll change his racing pattern at this stage of his preparation/career. Looks to be a handy 3 deep line with Comic Hero / Shaka Zulu / Defending / Regal Statue / Uncle Gerard all potentially in that same area so fingers crossed there’s horses to bring Comic Hero into the straight. From there he can unleash again. CHOIXWAY can stay out of trouble up over the top of the speed. Like the placement taking on the older horses and he has been trialling super. SHAKA ZULU is back at his best and was pulling massive late ground off Indie Ruler fresh. SUPPORTIVE is a model of consistency. Numbers: 4 – 9 – 5 – 6 Suggested Bet – COMIC HERO WIN RACE 4 PETULA looks like brilliant placement by Simon Miller. She’s a last start Black Type winner in the Listed WA Breeders Classic when gunning down sharp sprinter Stormchaser. She now finds herself in a 66+ Fillies & Mares feature with 58kg and looks like she’s got a bit too much firepower for these. With the right cart into the race she’s very hard to hold out. Got plenty of upside and has a massive motor. MADAME MAGIC is drawn barrier 1 but it’s hard to say with confidence that it’s a suitable draw for her. She’s likely three back the fence from there in traffic and waiting for gaps to appear. SAPPHIRE STREET finished third behind Petula and Stormchaser and is another well placed filly taking on the older horses. DREAM TO ME is a winner and took out this race last year. Numbers: 3 – 6 – 8 – 2 Suggested Bet – PETULA WIN RACE 5 MADAM KISSES is a 1000m straight track specialist and she showed last start that there’s not that much between her and Rock This Town / Lexington City who are both likely to be popular in the market. She gains the services of CJP, is drawn towards the outside fence and this is a race where they’ll burn along behind Sockoff, Rock This Town, Bayezid and Indie Ruler. With clear galloping room she can make a race of it late. ROCK THIS TOWN, SOCKOFF, BAYEZID and INDIE RULER are all free wheeling front runners who will want the coveted outside fence. Each would wish that the other pair weren’t in this event. LEXINGTON CITY can park and ride from the outside and with a split at the right time goes close. Highly competitive affair. Numbers: 10 – 4 – 5 – 7 Suggested Bet – MADAM KISSES EACHWAY RACE 6 CASH AWAY put the writing on the wall first-up behind Premium Choice and then got a mile off them in the race won by Red Fifty Three but attacked the line powerfully through heavy traffic late. He’s going as well as ever and Paul Harvey could be a very suitable jockey engagement for a quirky horse like Cash Away. If he stays within striking distance and finds the right back to follow into the home corner, he can sprint over them late. MULTINATIONAL won this exact race 12 months ago when first-up in the 72+ 1400m. That was first-up no trial, this time around Neville Parnham has given him a soft 1000m trial at Belmont. SUPERSESSION has been electric in the Fitzpatrick / Mt Barker Sprint. LENIENCY is ready to win. Numbers: 5 – 6 – 7 – 12 Suggested Bet – CASH AWAY EACHWAY RACE 7 STORMCHASER looks the one in the 3 year old Pinjarra Magic Millions. $2.50 pre-barrier draw, $2.20 post-barrier draw and doubt that the >even money quote will last past Thursday morning or any stage throughout betting. You’d have to say that the WA Breeders Classic had more depth than this and when you take away the ineligible Petula this does become his race to lose. Barrier 1 is not an ideal draw for him, but CJP gave him a peach from that same gate last start and if he sees clear air at the right time expect he’ll take care of these. SNOW PRINCE trialled well for his return and there looks a spot for him just behind the leaders. ROCKET JUICE looks best suited with cover but might end up a fair way off them here. SHOOTING SPIRIT has X-Factor. His fresh win last preparation was electric. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 5 – 11 Suggested Bet – STORMCHASER WIN RACE 8 GOLDEN VALE has been the All-In Favourite for a long time and looks more than capable of justifying that tag. She won brilliantly on debut and was immediately tipped out. Resumed off a soft trial (second to highly impressive plunge winner Glasgow Lass) and got the job done in style fresh. If she gets across without burning too much early fuel, she’ll take a stack of beating. Has met with big betting support in both outings to date so anticipate she’ll only firm from her $2.40 midweek opening quote. WOTUGOT will go around 20 / 30-1 but isn’t without a hope at odds. Expecting that from barrier 3 Jason Whiting can settle a few pairs closer in the run and looks like she wants 1200m. Could be the one to bob up and run a big race at a price. ONEMORETWOMANY went to the paddock undefeated. BIG SHOTS continues to go well. Numbers: 8 – 12 – 1 – 3 Suggested Bet – GOLDEN VALE WIN Same Race Multi – Golden Vale (Top 2) + Big Shots (Top 4) Golden Vale is two from two undefeated and looks a bombproof filly. She jumps, she travels, she’s tractable and she’s got a big turn of foot for a youngster. Barrier 11 is not an easy draw for Holly Watson but she’s got the best and most versatile horse in the race underneath her. Big Shots ran into a good one last start in Glasgow Lass (beat home Golden Vale at trials). He’ll get every chance and is racing consistently well. RACE 9 PREMIUM GIRL went around favourite last start in a 3 year old Saturday event which was won by Memory Parade (heads to the Challenge Stakes on Wednesday at Ascot). Taking on the older horses here she gets in with only 54.5kg which looks a really suitable piece of placement by Tony Triscari and a great pick-up ride for Steven Parnham. Likely to settle back half but in a capacity line-up there should be a three and four deep line building a fair way out. Just got off balanced at Ascot, think Pinjarra suits her much better. MOJO’S LUCK was much better than it reads on paper first-up. Trial leading into his return was a ripper. Keep safe with CJP on. HERE FOR CHEQUES can slide forward while many of his main rivals go back. NERO KING was stiff last start when striking a wall of horses in the home straight. Numbers: 16 – 10 – 1 – 6 Suggested Bet – PREMIUM GIRL WIN Quaddie (Race 6 – 9) 5,6,7,9,12 2 1,3,7,8,12 1,2,6,10,11,16 Market Market
