Scott Embry’s Sunday Albany Preview Posted on February 16, 2024February 16, 2024 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 SPECIAL STREET trialled well at Lark Hill leading into his return to racing when contesting a 3 year old 0MWLY behind subsequent 3 year old Plate winner Tycoon Harry. Drops back into a country maiden and carries the same weight after the claim of returning apprentice Kristo Sardelic. Looks one of the best chances yet for him to break through (both horse and rider). SANTERIA is on debut for SJ Wolfe Racing and with a set of blinkers and Tash Faithfull on she’ll have admirers. Recent trial clearly the best she’s produced so far. SECRET SHE KEEPS is new to the Jordan Rolfe yard but doesn’t look like she’ll be a maiden much longer. MOVING ON continues to go well without winning. Numbers: 4 – 8 – 7 – 1 Suggested Bet – SPECIAL STREET WIN RACE 2 SAILORALONG won a 400m jump out at Belmont and then a fortnight later was only 1L off them in a 1000m trial. Heads down to Albany to make his debut and from the draw he should get every favour in running. Interesting to note that Tash Faithfull trialled him yet she’s booked on Luke Fernie’s filly but we’ll still trust the eye and go with SAILORALONG to make a splash on debut. SOSIPATRA is quick and will be in front for a long way. With that racing pattern she’ll break through. SONIC RULER has only had the one start and that was in a 2 year old mid-weeker when finding the line strongly on a Heavy8. I’MA BIT TIPSY makes her debut and hasn’t been seen publicly since July. Big market watch. Numbers: 3 – 8 – 9 – 10 Suggested Bet – SAILORALONG WIN RACE 3 STAY WEALTHY (along with many rivals) is a query at 1500m but this is a race without any depth whatsoever. Four starts back he was ridden by Rosie Mahony, he lead and he was run down in the shadows. Two starts later he finished just over 1L from Exceltrain in a 58+ and last start he was beaten a margin but again in a 58+. If he sees out the distance then this looks a nice race for him. WARRALEA DIAMOND and MINE HOST his stablemates can both mix their form but have both shown glimpses. WARRALEA DIAMOND when third behind Outfield (beating home Stay Wealthy) and MINE HOST when third behind Cocoon Bay. SAFFIANO next best in a tricky race. Numbers: 1 – 5 – 4 – 2 Suggested Bet – STAY WEALTHY WIN RACE 4 INSYDE SUCCESS is the half brother to Red Can Man and he looks to have his fair share of ability. Went from a maiden win (over multiple subsequent metro winners Tycoon Harry and The Boss Lady) to a Saturday 3 year old Plate when third behind Pleasure Cruise and Autumn Rebel. He’s got class on his side. RED REBEL backed up off 4 days when winning a C2 1300 two starts back. He’ll be a really nice pick up for Darryn Pateman, especially come Broome season, however, for now he’s found a nice race for him on the grass at Albany. Can ride the speed and is tough. TROPICAL SUN is enjoying a great initial preparation. DODGE’ EM an improver. Numbers: 4 – 1 – 5 – 3 Suggested Bet – INSYDE SUCCESS WIN RACE 5 OXBRIDGE bypassed the Mt Barker Sprint after fading out of contention in the Fitzpatrick Plate. Prior to that he had been jumping and running them ragged. Barrier 1, apprentice rider engaged, expect that they’ll ride him to his strength which is for pure speed. CLASSIC MAGNUS drops out of the Fitzpatrick Plate and the Mt Barker Sprint into a c70+, a grade where she has proved herself on multiple occasions. RUSSIAN SNIPER runs for CJP. Now it’s up to ZJP to steer him home. More than capable if the gaps appear. MORGS FREEMAN has turned back the clock. He’s flying. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 7 – 3 Suggested Bet – OXBRIDGE WIN RACE 6 LONG KNIFE BROTHER was back to his best last start. He’s a 9 year old now and it may have taken a run or two under his belt to hit full fitness. Now that he’s there see no reason why he can’t go back to back. His win last start was visually impressive and sectionally he was only running away from them in the final strides. Meets a very similar line-up again here. MILLIVOY gets big weight swings on both Long Knife Brother and Vrum with the engagement of Rosie Mahony. Tricky barrier to overcome. VRUM has a positive racing pattern and Tash Faithfull going on is always a bonus. IMPOSING BROOK is going well. Numbers: 6 – 2 – 3 – 4 Suggested Bet – LONG KNIFE BROTHER WIN RACE 7 MISSALFIE took off a long way from home last start but simply outstayed them. She’s been building and building into the campaign and now that she’s fit and firing she should continue to be hard to beat in these country ratings race staying contests. Ava Catarino is starting to ride a few winners and with her 3kg claim the mare is again under the minimum. LET HER BOOGIE put the writing on the wall last start and has been racing like she wants ground. Doesn’t spend a penny in running. HOIST THE COLOURS is the class runner and only three starts ago won a 60+ in town. ARTIE’S COMET should be about ready. Numbers: 6 – 8 – 1 – 2 Suggested Bet – MISSALFIE WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 4 1,2,3,7 2,3,4,6,8 1,2,6,7,8 Market Market
