Chris Nelson’s Saturday Eagle Farm Preview Posted on December 21, 2023December 21, 2023 | Posted by Chris Nelson RACE 1 Not the best race to kick off a terrific day of racing at Eagle Farm however there’s a winner there amongst them! TAPILDOODLEDOO has won 2 of 25 suggesting he’s not the most reliable however he’s not Robinson Crusoe here, just caught the eye late at Doomben last start & the 2200m is a positive. I AM THE EMPIRE if runs here & not down south is consistent enough to figure, back to 2200m more suitable than the 2400m last time. I’ll just leave it at those two & hope for the best… Numbers: 3 – 5 – 6 – 4 Suggested Bet: TAPILDOODLEDOO EACH-WAY (extremely small bet). RACE 2 WINSTON SMURFHILL & PATMOS ISLAND map to control this race & if left to their own devices may well take running down. I’ll lean to the SMURF who was quite good first up here a fortnight back, a model of consistency last prep hopefully he can see out the 1600m. ULTIMATE OUTCOME is racing consistently & draws well, shouldn’t be too far away in the run. At odds DISPUTED RIVER isn’t the roughest, way up in grade however did catch the eye late last start at his first outing for the Kendrick stable. Numbers: 1 – 15 – 17 – 2 Suggested Bet: Box up top 4 selections in exotics. RACE 3 Only a small field to go around in this race where the flying WEIGALL TIGER who is shooting for 5 straight wins will undoubtedly start a short-priced favourite. He’s drawing gates & getting the right runs & I don’t see that being any different here although personally I wouldn’t launch into the short quote. TRIFLING the only danger, always running on however to my eye was being held late by WEIGALL TIGER last start. They look a complete lock to run the quinella/exacta. Numbers: 1 – 5 – 6 – 3 Suggested Bet: BOX EXACTA NOS.1 & 5. RACE 4 Tricky looking race where I’m hoping to follow in some market support for the resuming MISHANI GANGSTER. Nothing wrong with his form at his first 4 starts before tackling stronger races prior to spelling. Drawn & trialled well enough to put in a forward showing. FEMME FATALE had excuses last start when never on the track, go on the first up win. Interesting runner is HIGHBAR who looked like a world-beater on debut then fell in at $1.40 second start, we’ll get a better idea about his ability today. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 3 – 6 Suggested Bet: Box up top 4 selections in exotics. RACE 5 Not sure where MANBEHINDTHEMONEY will end up going around either here or at Randwick. He’s no star & was well beaten first up (3 wide though), his overall form is better than these on his day & should he put in one of his better efforts he can handle this bunch. JUMERIAH BEACH has also accepted for Randwick, untested out to this trip must take on trust. DHAKURI did win convincingly last start, chance should he repeat that performance. Numbers: 1 – 14 – 16 – 12 Suggested Bet: Box up top 4 selections in exotics. RACE 6 STORM BOY is the ruling Magic Millions favourite & will go around in this race at very cramped odds. Very impressive on debut at Rosehill the form has already been franked with the second placed Traffic Warden scoring at Caulfield last week. Should lead these a merry dance! Team Snowden bring CUSTOMIZED up, always respect the stable however his trial was only so-so. ASTAPOR has done nothing wrong, obviously harder taking on STORM BOY however I have liked the will he’s shown late in his races, really attacks the line. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 2 – 7 Suggested Bet: STORM BOY TOO SHORT, box up with 4 & 2 to run placings. RACE 7 Three chances in this race for mine & I will likely chop & change a few times before they finally jump! I’ll stick local & tip THE VOWELS who should be ready to fire stepping up to this longer trip. TAZARAL has some very good form in Sydney last prep around this mile distance, good fresh effort he will be strong late, he will give away a start though. ACQUITTED the other hope, dominant winning at Doomben last start his chances will improve with a wet track. Numbers: 3 – 7 – 1 – 6 Suggested Bet: Box up top 3 selections in exotics. RACE 8 ZARASTRO is in peak form & he’s an absolute flyer. He gave his rivals absolutely no chance in the Recognition run at Doomben displaying sustained speed to lead all the way over the 1350m trip. Unbeaten here over 1200m he only has Richon for company early & should put him away early in the straight. Plenty of respect for SPACEWALK however can he give ZARASTRO as start & run him down, not in my opinion he can’t. I’ve liked EF TROOP’s runs this prep, the latest was an eye-catcher late, 1200m suits. Numbers: 6 – 1 – 7 – 5 Suggested Bet: ZARASTRO TO WIN. RACE 9 With Outback Action scratched a lot of the pace comes out of the race which plays into the hands of BEZIQUE who looked well suited even prior to that scratching. She’s really hit her straps now winning both starts this prep & the wetter the track gets the better her chances become. ORIENT’S SECRET disappointed at Rosehill is better than that. BEZIQUE’s stablemate BOOM SHOT is a definite watch first up. Numbers: 10 – 8 – 5 – 15 Suggested Bet: BEZIQUE TO WIN. RACE 10 Good race to wind up the day where I’m with the cult horse GO WANDJI who should be ready to win third-up. Both outings back from a couple of serious operations have been terrific & with better luck he wins the latest. Inside draw not ideal on paper, he’ll only need a gap of some sort to overcome that in the straight. FREEDOM RALLY didn’t place in The Gateway as favourite, maybe on the wrong part of the track he’s a very promising type who can bounce back. HOLLYWOOD NORTH was an eye-catcher late last start; he can run into a top 4 spot. Numbers: 1 – 12 – 15 – 13 Suggested Bet: GO WANDJI TO WIN. Market Market
