Scott Embry’s Saturday Leonora Preview Posted on October 12, 2023October 12, 2023 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 SPINIFEX FAIRY should be able to bounce out and either breeze outside of Le Wren or march straight on the lead here off an 85 day freshen. Tash Faithfull being booked to ride is hopefully a show of confidence from Dennis Cooper and this is certainly not a strong maiden by any stretch. JAKE THE PEG chased hard behind Madame Pro at Mt Magnet off a 7 week freshen. ROMAN DANCER might need further but has been alright on the grass recently. LE WREN next best. Numbers: 4 – 1 – 5 – 2 Suggested Bet – SPINIFEX FAIRY WIN RACE 2 LEADER BIAS broke his maiden in a C1 at Roebourne before being beaten out of sight at his next two outings. Has had a freshen and finds himself in a Class B Trophy race with a lot of questionable opposition. Nice race for him. OLD TOWN PREDATOR looks one of the main fancies on paper and yet doesn’t have a rider named at the time of writing. If he finds a pilot he’s right in the mix. Astute dirt punters plunged him at Junction and almost pulled off a plunge ($61 to $21). SECOND CHOICE continues to race well without winning, as does KENDELS IMPACT. Numbers: 1 – 7 – 4 – 3 Suggested Bet – LEADER BIAS WIN RACE 3 RIGHTFUL HEIR looks to have found a very winnable race. Finished second in a 58+ 1300 at Kalgoorlie behind Californication and then ran a narrow second to Celebrity Witness in a 58+ 1600 at his next outing. Covered ground on Hannans Day and was beaten a furlong. Forgive, forget and follow here. MAN FROM MEMPHIS has finally found his feet after many seasons on the dirt and won back to back races at Carnarvon impressively. TUSCAN HOLIDAY has his first outing on the dirt for new trainer Chris Gilbert. Should be a nice outer Country Cups type next season. ABOARD was a big improver last start. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 2 – 5 Suggested Bet – RIGHTFUL HEIR WIN RACE 4 KELLY’S LI ZA LU looks the one they’ll need to run down here. Two starts ago was 3L off Witch Street and subsequent winner Mungo Jerry before finishing only 4L off Outfield on Hannans Day. Maiden win was at Narrogin when leading and winning by 3L. Expect that Tash Faithfull will look for the front. BITOVEMU ran third to Old Bailey at Leonora last season in this exact same race. FRIARS GIFT might be an 11 year old but he’s racing well. TIME TO THUNDER brings massively unknown Landor form having carried 72kg to victory on both days. Numbers: 4 – 3 – 6 – 7 Suggested Bet – KELLY’S LI ZA LU WIN RACE 5 MAGIC OF ZEUS won over 1400m at Junction by 5L with 60kg and then made his way to Carnarvon on a hit and run mission that saw him pick up a feature sprint beating home Speeding Commet and subsequent winner Kennedy. Goes well on dirt, goes well fresh and is drawn to get a gun run for ZJP. SOLARIZE has excellent grass form. Second behind Love Drunk Baby on Boulder Cup day is more than good enough to win this. KLONDIKE KENNY is no stranger to these races and can handle the inside draw. AMELIA’S BELIEF is jump and run. Numbers: 2 – 5 – 3 – 4 Suggested Bet – MAGIC OF ZEUS WIN RACE 6 LOOKING GREAT just needs to step cleanly and then he should be able to work forwards and take up the running. If he crosses, he gets marching in the middle stages and will look to turn it into a really testing mile. Love this race for him. NICKLAUS went around $2.20 in last year’s Leonora Cup when tramping wide throughout and going down a head to The Divine Wind. 12 months later he attacks the race again and if he can reproduce the run that saw him finish only 2L off Galaxy Affair and Kick A Goal Son in a 70+ four back he’d be a big chance. KALLAROO was once a Listed 3 year old winner. Far cry from that same horse but this is a big class drop for him. He showed on Cup Day that he’s going well enough to win. CALLING CARD next best. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 2 – 3 Suggested Bet – LOOKING GREAT WIN Quaddie (Race 3 – 6) 1,2,3,5 3,4 2,3,4,5 1,2,4 Market Market
