Chris Nelson’s Saturday Rosehill Preview Posted on September 7, 2023September 7, 2023 | Posted by Chris Nelson RACE 1 Plenty of quality racing later in the day at Rosehill where we kick things off with a 1200m Midway. I’ll lean to the resuming BUNKER HUT who just might be a bit too classy for this grade. Solid second first up last prep he then tackled the Gold Coast Guineas without success however was far from disgraced. Good gate, good jockey, good chance! BUNDEENA should be right at his peak third run back, drawn well. IRON MAN can run a race fresh. Numbers: 8 – 9 – 11 – 3 Suggested Bet: Box up top 4 selections in exotics RACE 2 Going to stick with the very consistent TAKE THE KITTY who should have won here a fortnight back at this level. Strung up for clear running in the straight once he did see daylight he charged through to go down by a narrow margin. Rawiller sticks, well drawn & down in weight. ATMOSPHERIC ROCK backs up from last week when closing strongly, has performed well with a quick turnaround in the past. MISSILE LEADER is going places however as to where he’ll go from the car park draw remains to be seen, needs his fair share of luck. Numbers: 8 – 11 – 10 – 9 Suggested Bet: TAKE THE KITTY TO WIN RACE 3 2400m could find a few of these out. Won’t be the case for last start winner DUKE OF HASTINGS who saluted at the Valley over 2500m running the trip out in strong fashion. He put the writing on the wall the start prior & now at peak fitness he can go back-to-back. TOO MUCH CAVIAR goes to the longer trip for the first time, inside gate helps however I’m a little wary. NORDIC PRIDE is worth throwing into exotics at a price. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 3 – 6 Suggested Bet: DUKE OF HASTINGS TO WIN RACE 4 Yet again I’m giving GRACILISTYLA ‘one more chance’! He’s been a model of consistency this prep without winning, some will say he’s a non-winner, I say he’s been luckless & could have won should things have panned out more than once. He strikes a very suitable race today. UNSPOKEN can run a race fresh, first up run last prep was a good one & a recent trial victory suggests he’s on song for a first up tilt. VENELOPE in the mix. Numbers: 3 – 2 – 11 – 8 Suggested Bet: GRACILISTYLA TO WIN RACE 5 Winning form is certainly the best form & the lightly raced HOWGOODAREYOU has plenty of it having won 3 of her 4 starts to date. Typical of the stable she’s a front-runner who can certainly find at the business end of her races. She’s up 300m here however being by So You Think I can’t see that being an issue, the hat trick beckons. MARQUESS the toughest to beat, forget hat tricks with him, he’s heading for 5 straight today, he held off Gracilistyla last start suggesting we’ll get a good guide from the previous race. Numbers: 9 – 2 – 6 – 3 Suggested Bet: HOWGOODAREYOU TO WIN RACE 6 Good competitive race, hard to rule out any runner. I’ve settled on I AM ME who got the job done first up in the Missile & has since been back to the trials performing well clocking in second behind Alcohol Free. Sits in the first couple & will give a good kick down the straight. QUEEN OF THE BALL will be the other on speed runner, she won’t shirk her task either. Expecting ESPIONA & SUNSHINE IN PARIS to be closing in strongly late. Numbers: 6 – 7 – 2 – 4 Suggested Bet: Box up top 4 selections in exotics. RACE 7 Have to be with the maiden galloper ENCAP here however he’s going to need a ‘Prebble special’ off the inside draw as he’s not going to take up a forward position. All three runs this prep have been fast finishing placings, the step to 1400m looks tailor made. He chased home TOM KITTEN last start & they meet again here, TOM just has to deal with a very wide draw, he will at least gain an unimpeded run down the straight. Very open away from those two. Numbers: 5 – 7 – 18 – 15 Suggested Bet: ENCAP TO WIN RACE 8 Tossed up between CYLINDER & LIBERTAD here however came back to CYLINDER as he’s the one with the stronger form lines plus he’s going to take plenty of benefit fitness wise off that narrow & game first up win. Keep in mind he was a second up winner last prep before running second in the Golden Slipper third-up. LIBERTAD maps well & can’t be knocked as he’s unbeaten, he too will strip fitter. BIG watch on the highly priced & beautifully bred KANDINSKY ABSTRACT, expect MILITARIZE to be closing late, he’s got bigger fish to fry later in the spring. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 12 – 1 Suggested Bet: CYLINDER TO WIN RACE 9 Tough race, many different angles. I’ve landed on the third-up ARGENTIA who ran a big race last start to beat all bar the smart Buenos Noches who is seeking an Everest slot. She sat 3 deep no cover & although no match for the winner I liked what she did over the final 100m coming clear of the other runners, 1300m looks ideal now & hopefully she can gain some cover this time around. NUGGET maps to gain a good run, three lead-up trials should have him ready. KOVALICA could well be a star of the spring, past runs suggest he’ll be motoring home late here & cherry ripe for next time. Numbers: 9 – 4 – 7 – 3 Suggested Bet: box up top 4 selections in exotics RACE 10 Cracking race to wind up the day. SMASHING EAGLE really caught my eye winning two back, therefore I was very keen to launch into him at his latest run, unfortunately he missed the start 2 lengths before motoring home into second spot, arguably he should have won. Today he takes on some very nice types & my confidence is not nearly as high however he stays on top. Will be having a saver RED CARD who impressed in a trial earlier in the week. AIRMAN & EXTREMELY LUCKY must be included. Numbers: 13 – 4 – 3 – 11 Suggested Bet: SMASHING EAGLE/RED CARD TO WIN Market Market
