Digby Beacham’s Ascot Feature Rankings Posted on December 9, 2022March 10, 2023 | Posted by Digby Beacham THE GOLD RUSH (1400m) – December 10 1. KISSONALLFORCHEEKS This has been her target race for a long time and she could well start favourite given the uncertainty over Vilana. Stomped home in the Winterbottom Stakes to beat all bar Paulele and the profile of this race appears similar. The barrier draw is perfect and she is proven at WFA. 2. KEMENTARI The winner of the Scahill Stakes two years ago, “Special K” has once again thrived in Perth. It has been a deliberate plan to aim him up at this race and on what we have seen behind the scenes, you’d have to think Godolphin are extremely happy with how it’s played out. Will be motoring late. 3. VILANA Fingers and toes crossed this bloke starts. Was poised to start the Winterbottom Stakes favourite until he was scratched on the morning of the race. Things haven’t gone according to plan since and provided he starts, will do so after being examined by vets. The best version of Vilana is good enough. 4. BEAU ROSSA Hard to miss his first run in WA in the Winterbottom. He has since had a couple of more weeks in Grant and Alana Williams’ operation. And we saw what happened with Ironclad last weekend in the Northerly after he was bland in the Railway Stakes. 5. ELITE STREET Enormous in the Winterbottom Stakes after a so-so run first-up in the Colonel Reeves Stakes. How will he handle the 1400m? We are about to find out. Best when ridden quietly initially in his races, expect Brad Rawiller to latch on to the back of the right horse approaching the home straight. Market Market
