The Scout: A-League Week 20 Posted on March 25, 2022March 25, 2022 | Posted by The Scout Macarthur FC vs Melbourne City Macarthur FC (4th) will be looking to bounce back after getting destroyed 4-2 by the Mariners last matchday, while Melbourne City (1st) enter this clash undefeated in their last eight matches. This shapes as a very entertaining match between two of the best sides in the competition but there looks a clear skill gap in favour of City. Despite being a solid team, Macarthur are simply not on the same level as Melbourne City who (in my opinion) are moving closer and closer to another A-League title. What is the main difference? Goal scoring power. Melbourne City have scored a staggering 41 goals in 20 matches and are blowing their competition off the park. They aren’t perfect however and have been susceptible to leaking goals, failing to keep a clean sheet in seven matches. Suggested Bet: Melbourne City WIN & Both Teams To Score @ $3.80* Central Coast Mariners vs Adelaide United Central Coast (8th) have turned things around after a disastrous run of form, now undefeated in four straight matches. Their opponent, Adelaide United (3rd) have hit a minor rough patch after a run of impressive results, and are now looking to avoid going three games without a win. Despite a draw and a defeat in their last two matches, Adelaide’s remain one of the best teams in the league. They have a well-balanced squad, but it has been their goal scoring power that has been the main driving factor for their high spot on the table. Both teams will press when given the opportunity, but it see Adelaide’s firepower getting them maximum points here. Suggested Bet: Adelaide United WIN @ $2.80* Melbourne Victory vs Western Sydney Wanderers Melbourne Victory (6th) are undefeated in their last five matches in the A-League, with their last three all draws. Western Sydney Wanderers (9th) on the other hand have had a string of inconsistent performances, resulting in two wins from their last six fixtures. Victory have been unlucky in their recent matches and will be desperate to get maximum points in front of their home crowd. Defense has been the focal point of Tony Popovic’s strategy, and it has worked wonders. Melbourne Victory have conceded just 19 goals in 16 matches, giving them the second-best defensive record in the entire league. The Wanderers have been unpredictable and extremely inconsistent which could play perfectly in the hands of their opponent. Melbourne Victory will look to maintain possession and take the opportunities to score when they present. Suggested Bet: Melbourne Victory Win @ $1.80* *Odds correct as at 4pm, 25th March 2022.
