Chris Nelson’s Gold Coast Best Bets Posted on January 6, 2022January 6, 2022 | Posted by Chris Nelson RACE 1 No.9 Manhood The wraps were spot on about this Michael Costa trained colt who made his debut here recently in maiden company when going straight to the front and never getting out of first gear. He takes a decent step up grade facing open 3yo company tomorrow however the time he ran and the ease in which he ran it suggests he’s right up to the task. RACE 2 No.2 Sir Rocket Country Cup races can often produce upset winners however I’m not expecting that to be the case tomorrow. This locally trained gelding from the Michael Costa yard looks the best placed runner all day having yet to be beaten here on his home track and is 3 from 3 on soft ground which is about the best we can hope for as the rain continues to fall. Looks the winner! RACE 7 No.5 Tamilaide On trial out to the longer trip tomorrow however on what he’s done at the mile there’s no reason he can’t be strong at the end of 1800m. Very unlucky to be beaten last run when just giving away too much start before motoring home late he’ll be well suited on the wet ground considering all his wins have been on either soft or heavy tracks.
