RACE 7 No.8 Loch Eagle

The Group 3 Spring Stakes is one of the highlights on today’s card and I’m going with this one from the Lees yard with that man James McDonald to do the steering. He’s only had the two starts to date for a pair of seconds and note the latest he was the only runner up on the pace to finish in the top five over the line, the step up in trip should suit and he draws to gain the run of the race. By Lonhro I’m not concerned with the prospect of a damp track.

RACE 8 No.1 Lost And Running

An absolute standout on form having run 4th in the Everest (behind Nature Strip) two back followed by a 2nd to Eduardo in the Classique Legend a fortnight ago, go back a run further he was just over a length from Masked Crusader in the Premiere! The only reason he’s not short in this race is the wide gate however on the map there’s far from a decent pace likely suggesting Hugh Bowman will be able to slot over and find a spot near the lead, from there even allowing for him giving weight to all of his rivals under the handicap conditions he should still be too classy.

RACE 10 No.12 Katalin

James Cummings has two very good chances in this race with Gravina and this 5yo mare who was impressive winning first up at Rosehill recently. My gut feel is Gravina just struggles when up in the weights which looked the case last start when although far from disgraced just lacked the necessary dash when the gap came. Katalin ran the quickest final 200m of the entire meeting winning her race fresh and will only be further improved, if the track is no worse than a Soft (6) I’m with her.
