Scott Embry’s Saturday Ascot Preview Posted on December 31, 2020January 4, 2021 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 STORM WHISPER trialled impressively alongside stablemate and debut winner Ultimate Command. Went to Bunbury on debut and toyed with limited opposition winning by over 6L in an exhibition gallop. This is much tougher but Chris Parnham should be able to kick through underneath to find the front. POLICIERE was brave on debut when three deep the trip throughout before bullying her way to victory last start. Barrier makes things pretty tough. VRANYO was a nice trial and Simon Miller has a knack of unveiling a nice one at most major meetings. TOPPA THE MOUNTAIN has a mountain to climb from the draw but looks to have ability. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 11 – 5 Suggested Bet – STORM WHISPER WIN RACE 2 KEEP YOUR FEET was impressive at his return to racing. Settled last over the flying 1000 and was never a winning chance in a race Madam Torio looked to have wrapped up on the Wednesday at nominations. Did a huge job to finish off from where he settled. Will need a Pike special from another horror draw but this is a much weaker line-up and 1100 is more suitable. DEVINE BEAST only has moderate Kalgoorlie form but was highly competitive against the older horses. Should hold a spot in running. OUR DANNI demolished battlers at the midweeks last start. Nice little confidence boost for her. ALL DAY SESSION has had an unorthodox campaign but does have talent. Numbers: 3 – 10 – 4 – 1 Suggested Bet – KEEP YOUR FEET WIN RACE 3 RATION ALY has had three runs this preparation at Ascot for a pair of sixth placings and a seventh. Each run has been equally as luckless as impressive and she finally falls into a winnable race. Was wide the trip first-up in the Jungle Mist, held up for the entire home straight second-up in the Jungle Dawn and then was enormous when savaging the line in a 72+ behind Dig Deep last start from last on the corner. Draws a gate, Jye McNeil picks up the ride and drops back in grade. Everything points to her being very hard to hold out late. THE FUGAZI is going well without winning. Raced a little on the flat side at his most recent and now has blinkers added for the first time. Worth following up. DARK MISSION was completely luckless last start. Big query on that as a form reference with Tiff Has Spoken and Indominus both plunged and putting in shockers since. FIRESALE backs up after a big effort last weekend. Numbers: 3 – 2 – 4 – 8 Suggested Bet – RATION ALY WIN RACE 4 LEICA JAGUAR looks to make it four on the trot and keep his undefeated 7 day record intact. Backed up twice off 7 days for 2 wins and last weekend was clearly a career best effort when tramping three deep the trip without cover on top of a solid tempo and still holding out the late challenge of talented four year old Mood Swings. Draws gate 1, stepping brilliantly and racing in career best form. Takes beating again. AMELIA BEDELIA was scratched from Friday to save for Saturday in what looks an astute move. Senior rider back on and ideal map. CONDOR HEROES is hard to trust. Super talented but does things wrong and clearly has issues. DIA DE LA RAZA has improved sharply in the last month. Numbers: 5 – 7 – 1 – 8 Suggested Bet – LEICA JAGUAR WIN RACE 5 PLATINUM BULLET is starting to fulfil the potential she has always shown. First-up ran an eye catching second behind Resortman in a high rating 66+ and then second-up was able to do it tough throughout and still turn the tables on him. That race has held up as a form reference with plenty of the beaten brigade running well since. Draws a gate to settle midfield with cover and has gone to a new level since being ridden in that manner. STATE ATTORNEY was a real surprise packet last start at 1400m. Went super and is better suited back at 1200m. Needs to draw a gate in his races and has done again here. POWER OF ST GEORGE was a first-up winner last preparation and has a stack of raw ability. TYCOON STORM hasn’t had much luck this preparation. Numbers: 6 – 3 – 7 – 2 Suggested Bet – PLATINUM BULLET WIN RACE 6 CHANTREA was undefeated 6 from 6 coming into this preparation. First-up ended up three back the fence in a slowly run 1400 and powered through the line in the second fastest last 400m of the meeting (second to Inspirational Girl). Last start was tracking through along the fence when Lonsdale Lady laid in on her. Opinions will be divided on whether she was travelling well or not but stepping out to 1800m she looks to have found her most suitable race of the preparation. Sticking with her. DANCE MUSIC is a natural query at 1800m but the way these fillies and mares races are being run gives her a big chance. NAUGHTY BY NATURE isn’t suited to the sit sprint conditions but is flying. SHE’S ALIGHT holds a position and is super consistent. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 6 – 3 Suggested Bet – CHANTREA WIN RACE 7 INDIAN PACIFIC is lightly raced, highly progressive and loves the flying 1000 at Ascot. Chris Parnham picks up the ride from injured brother Brad and from the gate should stalk the hot tempo generated by Mervyn, Carocapo, Misty Metal and Battle Hero. Should settle in the first three or four in running and his efforts in the Crawford and Colonel Reeves profile very similarly to this event. MERVYN gets weight off Indian Pacific and Essential Spice for narrow defeats in the Beaufine and Crawford Stakes. Jade McNaught suits him perfectly and #Merv is always hard to gun down. DON’T FUSS is one of the forgotten commodities in the race and can bob up without surprising. ESSENTIAL SPICE was brilliant over the summer carnival. Draw hurts and weight has caught up with her. Numbers: 6 – 9 – 8 – 5 Suggested Bet – INDIAN PACIFIC WIN RACE 8 TRULY GREAT has been the Perth Cup horse since his Belmont Park trials back in September. Burst onto the scene with back to back ratings wins to start the campaign and then Bob Peters caught most by surprise when dropping him back in distance to 1500m in the RJ Peters Stakes in a successful attempt to get him into the Railway. Career best performance when a dominant winner at Group 1 WFA Level in the Kingston Town and then made Trap For Fools look second rate in the Van Heemst when waltzing past him under a hold. 60kg and barrier 12 make things more interesting but he still looks like he is improving. Scary. NEUFBOSC is the logical danger after his impressive ATA Stakes win last weekend. Holds a position in running, stays 2400m and the harder they go in front the better for him. TRAP FOR FOOLS will roll across with Adornment and set a genuine tempo. Expecting Brad Rawiller to try and pinch the Cup at some stage. PRINCESS JENI brings intrigue to the race and was brave last start with 62kg at 2600m. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 2 – 3 Suggested Bet – TRULY GREAT WIN RACE 9 MR DELEGATOR did a bit of work mid race when Mitch Pateman made the decision to cross Em Tee Aye. Was brave in the finish and really only tired in the last 100m. From that race Adornment and Midnight Blue go to the Perth Cup, British Bessy went to the ATA Stakes and Mr Delegator and Sentimental Queen drop back to 60+ company. Looks the logical form reference. Brad Rawiller a huge plus. SENTIMENTAL QUEEN maps to get it soft three back the fence and with even luck will flash late. OUR D’AMOUR comes from inferior form lines but looks a genuine stayer. TREASURED CROWN is awkwardly drawn and 8 weeks between runs at a staying trip. Numbers: 4 – 6 – 9 – 3 Suggested Bet – MR DELEGATOR EACHWAY Quaddie (Race 6 – 9) 1,2,6 6,9 1,4 3,4,5,6,9,10 Market Market
