Scott Embry’s Thursday Northam Preview Posted on August 26, 2020 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 UNCANNY TIMING has been hard in the market at all 6 of his runs for Colin Webster. Last start was fairly luckless when held up and then darting back to the inferior going. Blinkers are on, drawn a gate and strikes one of the weakest fields that he has seen. The first-up effort behind Amasenus reads very well now with Startrader going on with it and Amasenus racing well since. Looks his race to lose. SOUTHSTAR has gone under at $1.60 and $3.30 in her only two race starts. Always trials the house down. Can Pateman be the difference? MY TOP SECRET is honest and should do no work. TUCK AND ROLL a novelty inclusion. Numbers: 1 – 7 – 4 – 10 Suggested Bet – UNCANNY TIMING WIN RACE 2 WARCIDIUM has had two runs back this preparation. First-up ran a strong and eye catching third behind Snickerdoodledandy and then ran into the sharp Queen Brown last time out. Steps to a mile, gets in with only 55.5kg and Jade McNaught is going well. From the draw should hold a position in the run and be right in the finish. SNIP’N’TUCK showed just how strong that late 2 year old/early 3 year old form is compared to the all age maidens when backed heavily and just missing last time out. Clearly hard to beat. I AM GROOT will roll to the top and take running down. SNIPSAWAY an improver. Numbers: 10 – 11 – 3 – 5 Suggested Bet – WARCIDIUM EACHWAY RACE 3 RECITING was big first-up when drawn an impossible gate. That was first-up no trial so he should take great benefit from the run and looks far better suited at 1300m. Draws a gate to sit midfield with cover and he showed at trials and races that she will be winning races. Gets in with only 54kg taking on the older horses and this is not a very deep line-up. BALDERDASH was supported first-up and ran well. Had to settle a long way back and sustain a run. Hard to knock anything from Paul Roberts’ boutique stable. THE SLUG was as soft a trial as you will see. If the money comes it’s well worth bandwagoning. REGAL DIVIDEND has done nothing wrong in two starts. Numbers: 11 – 3 – 8 – 10 Suggested Bet – RECITING WIN RACE 4 PERFECT HARMONY was knocking on the door all last preparation when running top four on multiple occasions. Comes into this first-up no trial but Barry Newnham can get them going fresh and in a race without a great deal of speed Ramoly should be able to come out running and get to the breeze. From there she’s a winning hope in a wide open race. WICKLOW PRINCESS is at start number 17 but she is always there abouts. PRETTY FRIAR ran second to Pomme and Pasaran last preparation, those are both good enough efforts to be winning this. TIME STARTS NOW has been riddled with bad draws and unsuitably run races. Going well but needs things to go his way. Numbers: 4 – 3 – 5 – 1 Suggested Bet – PERFECT HARMONY EACHWAY RACE 5 OVER THERE has always showed an above average level of ability but does throw in the occasional shocker from time to time. Go back only four starts and she was a 66+ winner and drops now into a 60+ (C5). Her trial was soft and extremely impressive when letting down under a hold to beat home G1 winner Great Shot. If she can bring her A-Game she’s awfully hard to beat. PATROCITY and PATRISTIC both come from the same race behind Fa’Lion Machine. They both had genuine excuses for different reasons and they could well settle first and second in the run. Worth following up. AWESOME AS really caught the eye fresh when beating them both home. Numbers: 2 – 5 – 1 – 8 Suggested Bet – OVER THERE WIN RACE 6 STAADEN was chasing an electric speed first-up at 1400m. The overall race time was almost 10L faster than average, all the on-speed brigade ran themselves into the ground and he actually did a fairly good job to fight on and finish as close as he did. Have already seen the form hold up with Neat Action running second last Saturday and he can go close here. SECRET STATUE drops from a C3 back into a C1 and gets in with a winnable weight after the claim. ZIP ZAM ZOOM hasn’t fired a shot since his first-up maiden win. Pateman on is a different story for him. PERI PERI PARA was good last start. Drawn to lead or box seat, ready to win. Numbers: 7 – 2 – 8 – 4 Suggested Bet – STAADEN WIN RACE 7 MELODY’S SECRET comes from a Graduation 60+ race behind Eeyore Wayz and that should be the strongest form reference in the race. Gets in well at the weights after the popular 3kg claimer of Lawdar Ramoly and with any luck lands a midfield position with cover. Is going super and all the runs this preparation have been great. ERISTIC was first-up no trial and didn’t show up. Worth forgiving based on his Ascot form. PARISA always a chance when drawn to get it soft three back the paint. AMELIA BEDELIA loves Northam but will need a miracle of a Brad Parnham special. Numbers: 8 – 2 – 9 – 3 Suggested Bet – MELODY’S SECRET WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 1,3,4,5,6 1,2,5,8 2,4,7,8,9 2,3,5,8,9 Market Market
