Scott Embry’s Thursday Northam Preview Posted on August 12, 2020August 12, 2020 | Posted by Scott Embry Race 1 STARTRADE trailed well at Belmont Park when beating Amasenus home. Amasenus turned the tables at Northam in the first-up assignment but the effort of Startrade was impressive to the eye and equally as impressive on the clock. Uncanny Timing ran second and Universal Pleasure ran third. They both look like winning races and the form should be strong enough to score here. SKILFUL HUNTER ran well on debut and should get it fairly soft from the draw. NORTHWOOD ran well enough first-up to improve into the money here. NO STOPPING ME NOW was a nice trial when not fully tested. Numbers: 4 – 3 – 7 – 5 Suggested Bet – STARTRADE WIN Race 2 CHICLETT wasn’t the most impressive trial to the eye but none of her trials before her debut preparation were anything to write home about either. Her debut run was great behind Em Tee Aye, No Surrender and Queen Brown and then she almost pinched blacktype in the Sires Produce when under a length behind Watch Me Dance, Dom to Shoot and Em Tee Aye. AMERICAN GRIN is clearly going to be a frustrating horse to follow. Runs eye catchers but does too much wrong. MINE DETECTOR was a big improver last start and looks to be screaming out for distance. SKATER BOY may need further but worth consideration. Numbers: 7 – 2 – 3 – 6 Suggested Bet – CHICLETT WIN Race 3 WEONA BRUTE had one start for Raquel Williams and then one for Grant & Alana Williams and now finds herself with Steele Casey. The trial with blinkers on was impressive when closing late behind Nurhaci. From the draw can position midfield and in an even maiden gets a great chance to open her account. FAIRER AMERICA improved sharply with Madi Derrick going on and that’s going to be a fairly familiar comment in WA in coming months it seems. I AM GROOT was in the same race and kept trying. TAWNY is the half to Misty Metal but looks a completely different type. Numbers: 6 – 2 – 4 – 8 Suggested Bet – WEONA BRUTE EACHWAY Race 4 FINAL CHILL is a 12 start maiden but this looks a nice race for him. Extremely one paced and needs everything to go his way but like the appointment of Jarrad Noske and on the quick back-up and back to a mile he’ll get the nod. Not a lot in this field and they may send him forward. SNIP’N’TUCK was beaten 6L on debut as a 2 year old but that was in a quality line-up including Empire Reign. WATTO’S REWARD is better than what she produced first-up. Worth forgiving. SNIPSAWAY caught the eye two starts ago. Numbers: 1 – 11 – 10 – 6 Suggested Bet – FINAL CHILL EACHWAY Race 5 TREAT YO SELF should continue her winning ways. Was only a moderate C1 winner last week at Belmont but did it at both ends and according to the clock she’ll be winning more races. If she jumps and leads again then there looks no reason why she won’t run them off their legs. Madi Derrick fans line up. PEARLS FROM HEAVEN finally broke a long run of outs. Clearly needs to get to the outside so expecting Knuckey to bring her deep from the 600. UNDER THE ARCHES tries hard and kept chasing last week. CHAMPAGNE GAL was specked at odds in a 72+ last start. Numbers: 4 – 1 – 3 -8 Suggested Bet – TREAT YO SELF WIN Race 6 ROLL THE GOODTIMES can be hard to catch and has been in work a long time but Ash Maley’s yard has hit a bit of form and he did catch the eye (to an extent) behind Queen Takes King, Sowar, Axel ‘r’ Eight and Bonneville Black last start when passing a few late. Worth a roll of the dice at a big price in a very open race. SENTIMENTAL FRIEND hasn’t won a race for a long while but Kylie Pisconeri has him going as well as ever since joining her care and he is knocking on the door. DELTA BELLE continues to go around very short in the market but should be just about ready to peak now. FUSION can stay but this is a big step from maiden company. Numbers: 8 – 1 – 2 – 4 Suggested Bet – ROLL THE GOODTIMES EACHWAY Race 7 NEAT ACTION is double nominated for Belmont Wednesday and Northam Thursday. Interesting to see which way Neville Parnham goes but if he elects to scratch for this C1 on Thursday it looks a very winnable race. From the draw can box seat and was stiff not to salute at Kalgoorlie. THE SINGING TIGER was ridden off speed last start and was hitting the line powerfully late. MIRROR MOON was a better run last start in a fairly fast run race. STAADEN ran second to Dutch Spy in a Lark Hill 950m trial. Good effort for a horse who will stay. Numbers: 3 – 2 – 6 – 7 Suggested Bet – NEAT ACTION WIN Race 8 SUNNYSILK is a new season 3 year old against the older horses, much like Empire Reign on Wednesday at Belmont it’s not something we see a lot of at this time of year but she was consistent throughout her 2 year old season and the recent Lark Hill trial was sharp. Should go close to crossing them and from there is hard to run down. THE FINEST is teasing punters and will be winning one soon. THE HONEYMAN went to a new level at the end of last preparation. OUR INSIDER can bounce back. Numbers: 5 – 4 – 3 – 2 Suggested Bet – SUNNYSILK WIN Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 1,4 1,2,4,6,8 2,3,4,6,7 5 Market Market
