Scott Embry’s Thursday Northam Preview Posted on July 15, 2020July 15, 2020 | Posted by Scott Embry Race 1 YANKEE LIMA will be looking for the top and expecting him to come out running. The 1000m trial this preparation clearly the best he has produced to date and this is not a deep maiden. Gets a great opportunity and should go round an eachway quote. MISS QUOTED has had a stack of chances, this is start number 27 for her but the last two have been excellent and eye catching. GINGER KNIGHT is still raw and green and doing a lot wrong but looks to have some ability. BON ODYSSEY is definitely no star. Trials only moderate and drawn awkwardly. Numbers: 4 – 5 – 1 – 10 Suggested Bet – YANKEE LIMA EACHWAY Race 2 FIRE GODDESS was a very big run first-up at 1000m. Was beaten under half a length and in an unfortunate circumstance Victoria Corver dropped her whip at the 300m. Was still able to reel off some of the best closing figures and from the inside draw looks hard to hold out late. JONO was strong two starts ago behind Hoolahoops and beating home Western Rhythm. A touch disappointing last time out. DRAMA FREE continues to loom the winner in his races. Blinkers could make the difference. DON’T SHOW ME UP was a soft trial and we get a sighter with Yankee Lima in the opener. Numbers: 6 – 2 – 1 – 4 Suggested Bet – FIRE GODDESS WIN Race 3 WHAT PLANET YOU ON has been good this preparation. Resumed first-up behind Fair Justice, Joyrize and Palaver when deep the trip and then hit the line strongly behind Mirror Moon before the most recent start when second to OTI Racing import Our Insider. That race was 3L faster than maiden average so should prove a reasonable form reference. CARMEL BAY was in the same race and ran really well. Perennial maiden but going well. FUSION, SWIPAWAY and TENNESSEE LANE all come from the same race and there was nothing between them. Numbers: 8 – 1 – 9 – 2 Suggested Bet – WHAT PLANET YOU ON Race 4 MR DELEGATOR is not the biggest punter’s pal in WA. Was $3.40 into $1.55 first-up when running fourth and then last start was again the target of strong money, $3.80 into $2.70 when unable to hold off the late challenge of Western Rhythm. Looks like he will get better the further they go and does have that front running rolling tempo of many of the Maschino stock. ADMIRED caught the eye first-up from back in the field. THEHUNTSMEN has been given pearlers by Alan Kennedy all preparation and looks like winning one soon. PYRO is clearly in career best form and a new horse under Nathan Turvey. Numbers: 3 – 8 – 5 – 2 Suggested Bet – MR DELEGATOR WIN Race 5 FORGOTTEN JEWEL should remain undefeated after 3. Had to roll forward to breeze on a rain affected track first-up from gate 16, with 60kg and then fight off the late challenge of Native Chimes. Already a subsequent winner out of that race with Fair Glory scoring last Wednesday and this doesn’t look a lot deeper. ROSE RED DRESS is flying. Her first-up run was incredible (last 200m 11.03 seconds) and then second-up ran the fastest L600, L400, L200. Getting mighty close. TAP THE GO GO goes for Pike and draws soft. GOKU was a C1 in a C5 last start and ran super. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 6 – 4 Suggested Bet – FORGOTTEN JEWEL WIN Race 6 ME ‘N’ TAZ is a bit unknown at the mile but the way he is going there is no reason he can’t give this a shake. Comes from a C5 run almost 6L faster than average and he was the one responsible for that tempo and back into a C3 here. Should cross and lead them and if he gets any sort of breather should prove hard to run down. LAVISTARR is building nicely into the prep. Should have no excuse from the draw. CARLTON CASTLE is testing patience with punters. Clearly has ability but doesn’t like going straight. HIGH ENERGY an improver. Numbers: 4 – 3 – 6 – 7 Suggested Bet – ME ‘N’ TAZ WIN Race 7 COMFORT ME is the full brother to Son of Bacchus and looks to have a similar level of ability. Hard not to like his recent Belmont Park trial when holding off talented type Crystal Spirt in the closing stages. Should only improve from the first campaign and looks suited to a fast run 1000 first-up. SCANDOLO is quick and if he jumps he can probably lead, otherwise sits in the box seat behind Rock the Planet who wobbles in the straight. LADIES OF LONDON promised to go through the grades last preparation but continued to find one or two better. HOT TECHNIQUE gets all the favours. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 7 – 8 Suggested Bet – COMFORT ME WIN Race 8 MISSING PRO is drawn gate 12 (quite possibly 9 after scratchings), is going very well at the minute and Victoria Corver is riding Lindsey Smith’s horses brilliantly of recent times. Super consistent, tough and on-speed, she should give backers a sight in an evenly graded race. DRINKWHATYOULIKE was allowed to stride first-up but can also sit off them. Pike gets on and she can improve again. BEAUTY KANAS does her best work when 8-12 weeks between runs so the gap between runs is likely by design. MCEDITH fresh with shades on is dangerous. Numbers: 3 – 7 – 2 – 8 Suggested Bet – MISSING PRO EACHWAY Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 2 3,4 1,2,7 2,3,4,7,8,10 Market Market
