Scott Embry’s Tuesday Broome Preview Posted on August 12, 2019 | Posted by Scott Embry Scott Embry’s Preview Race 1 CALAG broke through last start after surviving a protest. He should improve again and looks hard to beat. VISTA VIEW looks the likely leader from the inside or if not then he sits on Calag and gets every chance. BODEGA BEAU has been knocking on the door and this is not a deep race. FUTURIST is consistent but looks better suited at 1100. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 3 – 4 Suggested Bet – CALAG WIN Race 2 STARALIGN was a noted drifter last start when never getting into a fast run race. Blinkers on and Hall on are the two biggest eye catching changes in the region so happy to follow up. AXEL FOLEY showed glimpses of returning to his form of last campaign. PAIR OF FIVEZ will be in front for a long way and looks a danger. VOLKSWAGON FRANK comes to Broome with nice form albeit in weaker races than this. Numbers: 2 – 4 – 1 – 3 Suggested Bet – STARALIGN WIN Race 3 METALLIC BELLE has shades added and should find the breeze in a moderate field. Gets her chance dropping back in grade to post a well-deserved win. MISS HARLEY QUINN is the one drawn underneath who looks like holding the front early and can give cheek in this. SACAMBAYA has only had two starts this preparation when beaten a long way in both but previous form is good, including a fourth in last year’s Palmerston sprint. AMALIEMOO was a winner in this grade earlier in the season. Numbers: 4 – 3 – 1 – 2 Suggested Bet – METALLIC BELLE WIN Race 4 FLASH OF THUNDER broke through for his first win in Broome last start when given a peach by Cross. Hall will have him in front for a long way. HEROIC WORDS has won two on the bounce in the upper North. This is harder. MORE CHILLI looks in the mix. Always hard to line up the Darwin form against the Broome form but previous form looks good enough to figure in the finish. SAXON PRINCESS has speed to be in the race. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 4 – 5 Suggested Bet – FLASH OF THUNDER WIN Race 5 SHIBUYA CROSSING should lead this early and has the option to take a sit in a race with a few speedy types. Is far better suited dropping back to 64+ grade and to 1600. Looks hard to run down. TOM ALMIGHTY MELBOURNE just doesn’t know how to run a bad race but he also doesn’t know how to win. Will finish in the money (again). CORPORATE STRATEGY isn’t seeing out the trip at the moment. If he was to back up into a 1400m on Saturday he wins. FERNGROVE has been going well enough and should enjoy a lovely run. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 4 – 5 Suggested Bet – SHIBUYA CROSSING WIN Race 6 ROGER THE ROMAN is the cult hero of the region (maybe now second to Ihtsahymn) but is still loved by the people and his run in the Palmerston was an absolute ripper. Has to lump a big weight but Peter Hall is a big race day rider and he’ll be flying at them late. JELANI EXPRESS has been the find of the season and is undefeated after 6. Toughest test to date but has taken everything in his stride so far. SENSE OF DENIAL can figure with the right run. GONE AND GOT IT not impossible if they over cook it. Numbers: 1 – 6 – 11 – 3 Suggested Bet – ROGER THE ROMAN WIN Race 7 COLHOUN has run second at all three runs for Rob Gulberti in Broome but all three have been full of merit. Hall jumps aboard for the first time and he can sit deep and keep coming. ATACAMA SKY is suited at the 1100m. He’ll be in front for a long way and is showing a new found grit late in his races. KING COOL comes from alternate form lines but is in form. BUCK’S ROW has been building towards a win and it would be a surprise if Vigar didn’t nab one over the round. Numbers: 5 – 3 – 4 – 9 Suggested Bet – COLHOUN WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 2 2,3,4,5 1,6 3,4,5,9 Market Market
