Michael Heaton’s Sunday Carnarvon Preview Posted on June 21, 2019June 21, 2019 | Posted by Michael Heaton Michael Heaton’s Preview Race 1 PATRONISM made a promising Carnarvon debut last start when leading up a similar field and only getting overrun in the final 50m. He appears to have the most upside here and can slide across from his wide draw to settle on-speed again and he should prove very hard-to-beat from there. CARSON DRIVE started on the second line of betting in that race, wasn’t disgraced and the extra 200m here should suit. He maps to get a gun run behind the pacemakers. MIXED GRILL has placed just twice from 17 starts but has hit the line well in his three starts this time and the step up to 1400m here looks ideal, while STAR MAGNET ran well two starts back and has the speed to lead this field. Numbers: 5 – 6 – 3 – 9 Suggested Bet – PATRONISM WIN Race 2 BROTHER RAND has turned the corner over the last month and was a solid winner at this track and distance last time out. He drops in grade from that effort and maps to get a clear run out of trouble just behind the leaders. VITAL BOOM has hit the line very well in his two Carnarvon outings this prep and looks primed third-up over a mile. BOBCAT BOY has had an unorthodox preparation but has built a picket fence at his last three, races well at the track and can lead from the inside draw. SUPER SAXON gets weight swing on BROTHER RAND and has raced in higher grade in his past six starts. Numbers: 3 – 6 – 1 – 7 Suggested Bet – BROTHER RAND WIN Race 3 BALMONT STUNNER has been luckless at his past two starts but has still only gone down narrowly. He’s racing in great form, maps better here and relishes the Carnarvon mile. MEGAMIND bolted in last time out and is sure to make his presence felt but can’t afford to be slow out again from the inside draw here. BOLSHOI BANDIT is likely to settle towards the tail of the field but will appreciate the step up to 1600m third-up from a spell and will be finishing off strongly. REGAL HONOUR can lead again and give some cheek at his fifth run in this prep. Numbers: 3– 2 – 4 – 6 Suggested Bet – BALMONT STUNNER Race 4 BEHROOZ has won all three of his Carnarvon races in first gear. He’ll carry the most weight he’s had for the prep and may have to burn some fuel early to cross from the wide draw but should still be too good for them. CALAMARI SAFARI races first-up and looms as a danger if there are any chinks in the favourite’s armour. He maps to get a sweet run, flies fresh and loves the short-course Carnarvon sprints. NEWMARRACARRA has drawn inside BEHROOZ for the first time this prep and has the speed to make him work early, while BACHELORS PROSPECT hit the line very well at his track debut last start but may be looking for a bit further now. Numbers: 1– 3 – 2 – 6 Suggested Bet – BEHROOZ WIN Race 5 GOOD MORNING returned to winning form when stepping up in distance last start and can win again. He stays in the same grade but rises only 0.5kg on that effort and should be able to find the breeze without issue. PORTRAIT LAO usually takes a couple of runs but finished runner-up to GOOD MORNING last time out and that effort showed he’s nearly ready. He can stalk the pacemakers in running and pounce late. RUN FOR A REASON was a 64+ winner two starts ago and looks very well-placed dropping to a 55+ here. BULL BAILEY disappointed at his last outing but can lead again and his previous form suggests he can bounce back. Numbers: 10 – 1 – 4 – 6 Suggested Bet – GOOD MORNING WIN Race 6 WHAT A DROP has bumped into the talented Behrooz in 56+ grade at his past three outings and looks ideally-suited dropping to a 48+ here for the first time in six starts. He gets in well after the claim and can give a big sight. ARGOON impressed at his Carnarvon debut when runner-up and he also drops in grade from that effort. PREMIO MOMENTO hit the line very well at his first start at the track and can settle much more prominently from the good draw here, while last-start maiden winner OH HELLO will settle close to the speed and can be there for a long way. Numbers: 4 – 1 – 3 – 7 Suggested Bet – WHAT A DROP EACHWAY Quaddie (Race 3 – 6) 2,3,4 1,3 1,4,6 1,3,4,5,7 Market Market
