The six year old was Group One placed last preparation but looks to have made further improvement judging by his two runs this campaign. His last start 2nd behind AVILIUS in the Carlyon Cup (1600m) at Caulfield on February 9 is the right formline for this race and the step up in distance looks ideal. He’s a good stayer that should be winning this race and looks one of the better bets of the day. RACE 8 NO.10 EDUARDO The Oakleigh Plate (1100m) is traditionally one of the most open races on the Australian calendar, however this year’s renewal has a different look about with a short priced favourite in NATURE STRIP. The value runner looks to be EDUARDO, who is a lightly raced but highly talented sprinter that has won three of his five starts to date. The chestnut could not have trialled better in preparation for this race and should be highly competitive with 52kg. Whilst he has drawn wide, EDUARDO has terrific speed to overcome the draw and represents tremendous each way value. RACE 9 NO.8 AVILIUS Imported stayer AVILIUS has created a huge impression since joining the James Cummings stable and can continue on his winning way when he runs in the Peter Young Stakes (1800m). The five year old has won five of his seven starts to date including a brilliant fresh win in the Carlyon Cup (1600m) at Caulfield on February 23. He will relish a step up in distance and should confirm his favouritism for next month’s Australian Cup (2000m) with a win in the Group Two contest. Market Market
