Wayne Clark’s BBL Preview: Renegades vs Scorchers Posted on December 19, 2018December 21, 2018 | Posted by Wayne Clark Renegades vs Scorchers Thursday 20th December, 4.15pm WST This first round fixture should be a very close one with both sides expected to push for finals in BBL08. The Renegades (3rd BBL07) have been strengthened by the recruitment of T20 journeyman Dan Christian. His all-rounder skills and those of Mohammad Nabi (available whole series) will add the X-factor that was missing last year. Cam White, Tim Ludeman and Tom Cooper provide a solid top three capable of quick starts. The bowling strength has been affected by the loss of Dwayne Bravo, but with Cameron Boyce’s arrival and the experience of Kane Richardson, Chris Tremain, Jake Wildermuth and Pakistani Usman Shinwari, opposition runs will be hard to come by. The Scorchers suffered last year with a struggling top order, however Michael Klinger is back and is always reliable. Hilton Cartwright could light up this series and with Ashton Turner, Mitch Marsh and the exciting David Willey; they can cause problems for the Renegade bowling group. T20 specialist Andrew Tye again leads a talented bowling attack that has shown the ability in previous years to protect low scores. Young Jye Richardson could be the man to watch this year. Selecting a winner is going to be difficult but I’ll stick with the home ground advantage afforded to the Renegades. Tips Winner: Renegades ($2) Renegades Most Runs: Cameron White ($3.50) Scorchers Most Runs: Hilton Cartwright ($7) Renegades Most Wickets: Dan Christian ($6.50) Scorchers Most Wickets: Andrew Tye ($2.85) Odds correct as at 9am, 19th December 2018.
