Scott Embry’s Wednesday Ascot Preview Posted on December 18, 2018 | Posted by Scott Embry Scott Embry’s Preview Race 1 MEKONG DEN was done narrowly on the line last start and was unable to succeed in a protest after the race. Gets another wonderful chance in a weak Class 1. UNDER THE ARCHES is still a maiden but this is no tougher than what he has met his last two. TAKE NO PRISIONERS was good at York two starts ago before never getting warm last start. MISS RUMOUR MILL made a run at them a fair way from home last start and was brave. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 3 – 7 Suggested Bet – MEKONG DEN WIN Race 2 GILLESPIE was huge on debut sitting three deep no cover in a race where the first 6 horses across the line have since broken their maiden. Last start won soft and should sit right over the speed here. Nice type. CAERHELAN came from that red hot maiden form race last start to duly salute when well supported. She is the danger. POSITION OF POWER won well last start but this looks harder. ADMIRATION STREET is the exact same, last start winner taking on tougher. Numbers: 2 – 7 – 3 – 6 Suggested Bet – GILLESPIE WIN Race 3 FRIAR’S CLASSIC was a nice run down the straight last start when held up momentarily when trying to work clear. Hit the line well and can either lead or box seat here. FLOWER OF WAR is the winner of both her trials and is sure to be short on debut. Will have to do a bit of work from towards the outside and could be vulnerable. POINT TAKEN looked the winner everywhere bar the post last start. Could come out running underneath the favourite. LUKE’S CHOICE has done nothing wrong in two races. Numbers: 7 – 12 – 10 – 3 Suggested Bet – FRIAR’S CLASSIC EACHWAY Race 4 SUMMIT TRAIL was slowly away first-up and that was lights for his winning chances. Rattled home late from an uncharacteristic position. Important riding change with Turner going on and that should ensure he gets out of the gates. SEEKING ALPHA comes from the same race and should lob straight into the box seat from the inside or even lead. They look the two. SILVER ZAPATO has been a bit below his best since a cracking first-up run. TRADE PRIZE gets back and runs on late. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 13 – 2 Suggested Bet – SUMMIT TRAIL WIN Race 5 CRYSTAL VALLEY really does look ready. Her effort three starts ago behind Spillinova and subsequent winners Royal Command, Rising Sea and Lord Ludlow was excellent and then last start in this grade flew late. Backs up off 7 days and should stick the trip. AMERICAN JOY has not had the most ideal preparation. She likely ends up three back the fence from the draw and will be looking to weave a passage through. ARNIE’S BOY was crunched last start in an easier race. BUNKER BUSTER won that race after being luckless at his previous. Numbers: 3 – 2 – 6 – 7 Suggested Bet – CRYSTAL VALLEY WIN Race 6 CUANZO couldn’t pick his feet up on the dirt in Broome, however, in his previous preparation ran a place in five 72+ races and then won in this grade. He is likely to keep drifting and should give a sight. SIXPENCE SPENT finds it hard to win but is rarely far away from the action. Does his best fresh. DAWN MISSION will find this far more suitable than her first-up run which was strong. ORANGE STRUDEL bolted in last start and previous to that was sound. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 5 – 6 Suggested Bet – CUANZO EACHWAY Race 7 SEND MY LOVE will get a fair way off them first-up but went close last preparation behind Freo and then won a Saturday three year old race when well supported. Strong form for this. WESTERN KING only won a weak mile maiden last campaign but trialed well for his return. ALTA SULL’AMORE never got into a fast run race last week. Backs up, drops in grade and gets out to a suitable trip. ICECRUSHER was a good run first-up and can improve again. Numbers: 6 – 7 – 9 – 11 Suggested Bet – SEND MY LOVE WIN Quaddie (Race 4– 7) 1,4 2,3 2,3,5,6,7,8,10 1,2,4,6,7,9,11 Market Market
