Deane’s Saturday Ballarat Best Bets Posted on November 24, 2017 | Posted by Deane Lester Deane Lester’s Best Bets RACE 1 NO.4 ROYAL FASHION Former New Zealand mare ROYAL FASHION makes her Australian debut when she contests the Mares Benchmark 78 Handicap (1200m) and should make a winning return to racing. The four year old has solid form in her homeland including a placing at stakes level. Her recent trials have been very good, the Hayes/ Dabernig stable have selected the ideal race for her and she appeals as the best bet of the day. SuperPick - Race 1 No. 4 ROYAL FASHION - Win Boost RACE 5 NO.6 CAPTAIN HARRY CAPTAIN HARRY is still a maiden after nine starts, however his last run was indicative of better things to come and he looks the value runner of the day when he runs in the VOBIS Gold Eureka Stockade (1400m). The Darren Weir trained colt was narrowly beaten over 1400 metres at Ballarat on November 6 by his stablemate PEACEFUL STATE, who then went on to run a brave second in last week’s Sandown Guineas. It is a fantastic form reference for this race and a repeat of that run should see CAPTAIN HARRY proving highly competitive again. RACE 10 NO. 3 SUSPENSE The Melbourne satellite stable of Peter and Paul Snowden is starting to build good momentum and their in-form sprinter SUSPENSE looks the one to beat again when he runs in the City Of Ballarat Plate (1200m). The five year old comes off an all the way victory over 1200 metres at Moonee Valley on October 27 defeating HELLOVA STREET who then went on to win a stakes of the Flemington carnival. It’s a solid form reference and SUSPENSE has been kept fresh for this race which he seems to relish. He makes his own luck and looks one of the better bets of the day.
