Wayne’s Preview – Heat vs Sixers Posted on January 24, 2017June 7, 2018 | Posted by Wayne Clark Wednesday January 25, 2017 The Sixers achieved the unexpected when they defeated the Stars on Saturday night. The win not only got them into 3rd position, but it relegated the fancied Stars to 4th and to a tough contest against the Scorchers at the WACA. The Sixers may well have to do the unexpected again if they are to progress to the final – defeat the Heat at home! The Heat, coming off a loss to the Renegades, have played some exciting and ruthless cricket all season. Even without Chris Lynn (309 runs), McCullum (277), Burns (179), Ross (187) and Peirson (120 at S/R 142) provide a potent top order. Add young Heazlett (S/R of 170%) and the Sixers attack will have a tough time restricting the total. The spin of Botha and Lyon will play a massive part in this contest and they could well be used early in the innings. Sean Abbott (26wks – competition leader) and Dwarshius (213) have been good for the Sixers, as has Bird, but they will need to be at their very best against the strong Heat line-up. The Sixers batting has been inconsistent with only Dan Hughes totalling above 200 (250). Lumb, who has replaced Roy, will need to help Hughes post a positive start with Henriques, Haddin and Maddinson to achieve season bests if they are going to win this game. Steketee (13wkts), Swepson (11), Wildermuth (8) and Cutting (8) have been excellent for the Heat, who will go into this game confident of a win. A fit Badree would only add to that confidence.
