Greg’s Saturday Belmont Best Bets Posted on September 23, 2016September 27, 2016 | Posted by Greg Hooper Greg Hooper’s Preview RACE 1 DAGORLAD improved sharply last week when he parked wide throughout and was chopped down late by King Louie. He’ll roll forward from his wide gate to either lead or breeze and is the one to run down. SHREWD GAMBLE should be ready to peak at his third run back from a spell. From gate 4 he gets the perfect run. CORRENTE is consistent and will pinch a race of this nature soon. ROYAL TIPPLE next best. Numbers – 4 – 12 – 3 – 14 Suggested Bet – DAGORLAD SAVE SHREWD GAMBLE RACE 2 Prices have swayed me and going for ZEFIRO. He was heavily supported in betting when resuming from a spell however he lost all chance after making a meal of the start. Harvey takes over from the injured Jarrad Noske and if he jumps well he should be in a position to strike and play a part at each-way prices. SOMEDAY ONE DAY is very close to a win and Pike jumps on. CROWDER has been finding the line strongly all campaign. MISS MEIKA gets the right run and has claims. Numbers – 5 – 3 – 2 – 11 Suggested Bet – ZEFIRO AND SOMEDAY ONE DAY RACE 3 CAIPIRINHA was knocked off by a smart one when resuming from a spell. She can lead or box seat and go very close to her maiden win. ELEGANT BLAST looked in need of the run when resuming. Pike on, she improves and goes close. COOL KNIGHT led and won well on debut. This looks harder but he should measure up. SPEEDING COMET led and dictated when resuming. More depth this tine but he has claims again. Numbers – 10 – 5 – 8 – 1 Suggested Bet – CAIPIRINHA SAVE ELEGANT BLAST SuperPick – CAIPIRINHA – Money Back – Run 2nd RACE 4 MILITARY SERVICE seems to bob up once a preparation and this does looks a nice assignment for him. Brad Parnham will look to find some cover just behind the speed and let him finish strongly as he did two starts back. CHARLESTOWN enjoyed the dream run in the Apprentices Cup and scrambled home. He then was solid when dropping back to a mile. Pike on and drawn gate 1. DUST ME OFF and VERDELLO BLUE both give a sight on the speed. Numbers – 7 – 4 – 3 – 2 Suggested Bet – MILITARY SERVICE EACH-WAY RACE 5 THE FORGOTTEN ONE has burnt the punters on numerous occasions however at the current prices on offer happy to give him another chance in this event. He was very unlucky two starts back and then got mile back from a wide alley and made solid ground. He can settle much closer from a better draw and gets his chance. DANCE MASTER was luckless last start. He’s drawn well and can win. ALL TOO MUCH can lead or breeze. PUSHIN’ SHAPES rises in distance however he last competed in a stronger race than this. Numbers – 8 – 4 – 3 – 5 Suggested Bet – THE FORGOTTEN ONE EACH-WAY RACE 6 FOREVER DIAMONDS impressed when winning off an 8 week let-up in midweek grade. This race only looks marginally tougher and if Pike can thread the needle again she’ll take plenty of holding out. MISS ICONIC led and won her maiden well last start. She can give big sight on the speed again. FIRST TRADE is another who will race strongly on the speed. BOURBON DYNASTY will box seat from gate 1. Numbers – 6 – 11 – 10 – 3 Suggested Bet – FOREVER DIAMONDS WIN RACE 7 BOMBER BAY was back to his best when resuming from a spell. He attacked the line and narrowly went down to the talented Pretentious Chant. If he can reproduce that type of effort he goes very close again. WAR GOD has been in scintillating form since Paul Harvey took over as his rider. He appears the danger. JUENDIS is a query at the trip but should beat most on class alone. CRUSOE was heavily supported in betting last start and ran fairly. Numbers – 3 – 1 – 5 – 2 Suggested Bet – BOMBER BAY SAVE WAR GOD RACE 8 PRETENTIOUS CHANT got the job done when resuming from a spell. He improves off that run and can make it back to back wins. RECOILED put in a slashing effort at his most recent start. He rises to 1200m however the blinkers have been removed in order to get him to settle better in running. He appears the danger. REGAL GLEAM has been given a freshen-up since her dominant wins in midweek grade. She can lead and give a sight. SPIN DA WHEELS next best. Numbers – 3 – 9 – 4 – 2 Suggested Bet – PRETENTIOUS CHANT SAVE RECOILED RACE 9 INFATHUATED was very unlucky when returning from a let-up in similar grade. He improves off that run and can settle much closer in running. He gets his chance for a deserving win. ROYAL SUPREME looks the danger. She was another who had little luck in the same race. FLYING ROAR can lead or box seat. SAKER is always a chance at this level. Numbers – 8 – 10 – 4 – 5 Suggested Bet – INFATHUATED SAVE ROYAL SUPREME QUADDIE RACE 6 – 3, 6, 10, 11 RACE 7 – 1, 3 RACE 8 – 3, 4, 9 RACE 9 – 4, 5, 8, 10 [button class=”bet-now” style=”btn-default btn-lg” type=”link” target=”false” title=”Bet Now” link=”https://www.tabtouch.com.au/racing/2016-09-24/pr” linkrel=””]
