Wayne Clark’s BBL Preview: Sixers vs Scorchers Posted on December 21, 2018December 21, 2018 | Posted by Wayne Clark Sixers vs Scorchers Saturday 22nd December, 12.30pm WST The Sixers have been a disappointing franchise and have under-performed, but they may be meeting the Scorchers at the ideal moment! The Scorchers were disappointing against the Renegades with the batting again being the greatest concern. You can’t continually rely on the bowling attack to sugar-coat your batting deficiencies. I can’t see the point of having Cartwright at seven; let him open with the ever-reliable Klinger. Willey is exciting but may be more potent as a finisher. Mitch Marsh is so talented and needs to lead from the front. Batting won’t be any easier with Sean Abbott (13 wickets BBL07) again being a threat and spin being at the fore with O’Keefe and maybe young-gun Lloyd Pope getting the opportunity to show their wares. Watch out for young quick Henry Thorton if he gets a start. The Sixers batting will be very reliant on import Joe Denly and Moises Henriques, but two young players to watch will be Jack Edwards and WA’s own Josh Philippe. Both may add the spark needed for the Sixers to take it up to the Scorchers. When assessing who wins, the spinners could have a real say, and given Qadir’s disappointing performance the other night, I’m tipping an upset with the Sixers just edging out the Scorchers.
