Warren Huntly’s Wednesday Mornington Preview Posted on January 7, 2025January 7, 2025 | Posted by Warren Huntly Race 1 RIP ‘N’ RIP has been good at both run this prep, he can make his own luck and gives the impression 1500m will suit. MARY ELIZA ran well on debut and the winner has subsequently run well in stronger company at Flemington on New Years Day. FONTAINE ROUGE has the tempo had the tempo against her when well in the market resuming. MCADAM looks the other key hope. Selections: 2,8,7,5 Suggested Bet: Rip ‘n’ Rip each way Race 2 SIRENA has jumped out well to kick off her second prep and should secure a good run near the speed. CONTROLLED ZONE has also jumped out well to resume gelded and with blinkers off for his second campaign. TONKIN is another to be jumping out in good style to resume. BOX OFFICE will strip fitter for a solid return. KING TUT looked sharp winning his most recent jumpout with blinkers on. DO SAY is one of a few that have been jumping out nicely to kick off their second preps. Selections: 9,2,10,1 Suggested Bet: Sirena each way Race 3 BRIGHELLA should be suited by a solid tempo and has been trialling/jumping out well to resume as a gelding. EXCESS covered ground first up and will be part of the speed. MALLETIER looks capable of measuring up on the strength of his last start maiden victory. CASTELLAR is racing well and seems best suited at this trip. EARTH GOD found a suitable race with blinkers back on last time and has some claims. Selections: 7,2,6,3 Suggested Bet: Brighella each way Race 4 CAMERON FALLS has been solid ridden a bit off speed at his last two and the likely solid tempo here should suit. OUR LONE STAR showed a glimpse of his best form here last start and will be strong late. FLYING ACE is racing well, he backs up quickly after and can make his own luck. LITTLEBIRDIE won her maiden ok last start and is open to further improvement. Selections: 5,3,4,7 Suggested Bet: Cameron Falls each way Race 5 JENNYANYDOTS sprinted well when finally clear to win her last start and looks the one to beat again. SMART RETURN was well backed to score last time and like Jennyanydots, should be suited by a likely strong tempo. ELENA MONTERO impressed riding the speed to win on debut and can give a sight if forward enough. ROCK MELODY was a surprise winner here two starts back but was solid again last start and has some claims. Selections: 1,3,2,6 Suggested Bet: Jennyanydots to win Race 6 EXPEETEE got into an awkward spot in a messy apprentices only race last start and will be suited stepping up in trip with Lachie King getting back aboard. SALSITA is racing consistently and ran well in one of these last start. NORDIC BELLE had no luck before the start before overturning the short-priced fav last time and looks capable of coping with the rise in grade. GINGER SWEET will strip fitter third up and gives the impression 1800m will be ok. CHAKADO is racing in good form, he hasn’t been quickening at the end of his races and may be looking for this trip now. Selections: 10,3,8,11 Suggested Bet: Expeetee each way Race 7 KING’S CAPITAL was good through the line after settling back from a wide draw last time. He can settle closer and the rise in trip looks suitable. PERFECT PLAY had been trialling well before a solid return and gets winkers on KING’S VALLEY won well here in easier company last time but has some upside. SIR ATLAS ran well first up and may have been looking for more ground when staying at 1400m second up. DRAGOON is fit, in form and races well here but is some query stepping up to 1800m. Selections: 8,5,11,2 Suggested Bet: King’s Capital each way Race 8 WRITTEN BLIGH looks well placed stepping up to 1200m second up after a pleasing return. WHITE BEAR gets blinkers first time, he gave a sight when well backed first up and the winner has since run well in stronger company. MR MAGNUS got lost down the straight but ultimately closed of well and should be suited getting back around a bend. HUSTLE IN HEELS looked good winning here on debut, this is tougher but she appears to have plenty of upside. BARBARIC LAD resumes gelded, he’s jumped out well and will be strong late. Selections: 4,2,7,10 Suggested Bet: Written Bligh each way Market Market
