Warren Huntly’s Saturday Ballarat Preview Posted on December 8, 2023December 8, 2023 | Posted by Warren Huntly Race 1 Plenty of rain forecast in the lead up and during the day, that is likely to have a significant impact on pattern and late scratchings. SUNSET DREAMING is likely to start short odds and looks the one to beat. She gets blinkers on and backs up from a solid run in the Sandown Guineas. CANYONLANDS is still a maiden but has run well at both runs to date and was beaten by a promising galloper last time. RAYMOND’S REWARD has been kept fresh, gets winkers on and jumped out well since his first up win. MISS TALLCHIEF broke her maiden in good style last start and should appreciate 1400m. Selections: 5,3,1,6 Suggested Bet: Sunset Dreaming to win Race 2 ARABIAN SUMMER has been solid at her two runs to date and handled soft ground well last start. BROKEN PROMISES has jumped out well for her debut and appears to have tactical speed. PARKOUR has looked good in a couple of recent jumpouts. VIANARRA has race fitness and raced well here last start. DUN WONDERING and SHADEELA have also looked good at the jumpouts. Selections: 7,10,5,2 Suggested Bet: Arabian Summer each way Race 3 ALL ABOUT EVE races well on her home track and a recent jumpout indicates she’s in typically good order first up. GIVE GIGGLES in unbeaten on her home track and will make her own luck. CAVALLO RAMPANTE is racing well and looks capable of measuring up to this slightly stronger company. IMAPAGETHREE GIRL has upside and also appears capable of taking a rise in grade. Selections: 11,12,13,14 Suggested Bet: All About Eve each way Same Race Multi: All About Eve (Top 2) + Give Giggles (Top 4) Race 4 Competitive race. SHOHEI will strip fitter second up and the Foxy Frida form reads well. MY YANKEE GIRL has jumped out well between runs and handles wet ground. JENNY JEROME has trialled ok and can pull out a run fresh. PRAIRIE FLOWER, GLITZING, FRENCHMANS BAY and HOLLY LOLLY have a case. Selections: 7,4,3,6 Suggested Bet: Shohei each way Race 5 ALHAMBRA LAD has tactical versatility, he loves wet ground and is suited stepping back up in trip. EXCELERATION did enough first up and will appreciate the rise in distance. CONVENER is testing the patience but had excuses last start and handles soft ground well. GLITTER ‘N’ GOLD will settle close to last but will be charging late. Selections: 1,8,2,14 Suggested Bet: Alhambra Lad each way Race 6 OCEANS ABOVE will be approaching his peak third up and gets blinkers and a tongue tie. DIVINE PUPRPOSE may have been flattered by the pattern first up but did strike some traffic issues late. WHAKAMANA and TORRANZINO will be both better over further but have jumped out well and handle wet ground. Selections: 12,16,15,17 Suggested Bet: Oceans Above each way Race 7 A LITTLE DEEP ran second in this race on heavy ground last year and won impressively in her recent first up run. She’s jumped out nicely between runs and looks the one to beat. SPICY MARGS has good speed and has jumped out in typically sharp fashion to resume. BAROQUE ROAD has jumped out well, he may be better over a little further but has handled soft ground and will be strong late. VAGRANT is another to jump out in good style to resume and will be hitting the line strongly. Selections: 8,12,3,7 Suggested Bet: A Little Deep to win Race 8 YOUNG WERTHER has plenty of weight but has been racing against superior opposition and appears to thrive on having his runs spaced. FOXY CLEOPATRA has returned in great form and should appreciate the step up to 2000m. CAPTAIN ENVOIUS has plenty of talent and appeals as a lightweight chance. SWORDS DRAWN backs up from a solid run last week and is suited by the rise in trip. If the track remains dry and AIN’TNODEELDUN remains in the field, he’d be close to top pick. Selections: 1,8,10,5 Suggested Bet: Young Werther each way Race 9 TAUNTING impressed at Cranbourne last time and will make his own luck again. SACRED PALACE has jumped out well to resume and will be charging late. SEBONACK ran into brick walls in an easier race last week, no surprise to see him back up quickly. MEGAMEA has jumped out in great style, she may need luck from the inside draw by this time of the day but handles wet ground and has been effective first up. ZAC DE BOSS had no luck last start and is in the game. Selections: 3,8,11,7 Suggested Bet: Taunting each way Race 10 If emergencies ROGUE ROCKER and BRUNG KING gain a start, they’re both strong winning hopes. ATMOSPHERE has jumped out well to resume and is comfortable on rain-affected going. MERIDIUS will be close to his top third up and is also comfortable on wet tracks. TONNEOFGRIT battled on well first up, he may have been in slightly inferior ground and has a good second up record. Selections: 18,12,19,6 Suggested Bet: Rogue Rocker each way Market Market
