VIDEO: Sam Hyland – Aus Guineas and Chipping Norton Stakes Posted on March 1, 2018August 20, 2018 | Posted by Sam Hyland It’s a cracking day of racing at Flemington on Saturday, with the feature race the $1 million Group 1 Australian Guineas (Race 7) for three-year-olds. It’s a hot field, one with a number of winning hopes. The Mick Price-trained GRUNT (No. 11) has stacks of ability and was devastating in taking out the Group 3 CS Hayes Stakes at this track a fortnight ago. He’s drawn out in barrier 17, but has the services of champion hoop Damien Oliver. CLIFF’S EDGE (No. 2) – runner-up to Grunt two weeks ago – will make his own luck out in front and take some catching, while BRING ME ROSES (No. 16) – one of only two fillies in the race – turned in a lovely first-up run and loves the track (4:1-2-0). In Sydney, we see the return of wonder mare WINX (No. 7) in the Group 1 Chipping Norton Stakes (Race 6). She’s gunning for 23 wins on the spin and shouldn’t have any trouble taking care of her rivals. PRIZED ICON (No. 4) looks an appealing place/quinella play. His two runs this campaign have been solid, and he gets to 1600m, which he relishes (4:2-1-0). The other Group 1 in the Harbour City is the Surround Stakes (Race 7), where Group 1-winning Godolphin filly ALIZEE (No. 2) will start a warm favourite. Victorian visitor, last start Group 3 winner RIMRAAM (No. 5), should run a bold race at good odds. Best Bets: FLEMINGTON Race 4, No.1 – Oregon’s Day RANDWICK Race 3, No.3 – Sandbar
