Trent Cooper’s Gloucester Park Preview Posted on September 18, 2025September 18, 2025 | Posted by Trent Cooper Race 1 MALAKIE (11) recorded impressive back-to-back wins in June and was driven softly when a nice 2nd at his first run back from a spell. He should be fit enough to be put into the race earlier tonight and he should give a great sight. YANKEE LINCOLN (2) has been unplaced in his last five starts but he is a different horse when he is on the pegs and can improve sharply from this draw. FLY TO THE FINISH (6) has finished 2nd in three of his past four starts and should make his presence felt again. TRIROYALE BRIGADE (9) is racing well enough to win a race of this nature but will need luck from this barrier. Tips: 11 2 6 9 Suggested Bet: MALAKIE (11) to win. Race 2 SWEET COCO (9) was an impressive winner at his first start in WA and the times he ran indicated that he is capable of overcoming the wide draw. CHIVALRY (12) worked hard and knocked up late in a stand here last week but this looks more suitable. CALLMEWHATUWANT (5) ran a nice 3rd against a stronger field at his last start and he is the best drawn of the main chances. SWEET LUCIFER (7) raced extremely well last time in and was driven softly first-up but can be put into the race against this line-up. Tips: 9 12 5 7 Suggested Bet: CALLMEWHATUWANT (5) each way. Race 3 WAVERIDER (5) couldn’t get into the race first-up but he is the best drawn of the main chances tonight and he will be hard to beat if he can use that advantage and force his way to the front. VANDERBILT (7) was a brave 3rd in good time at his first run back from a spell and will make his presence felt here. INSTA GATOR (6) maps to enjoy a nice run close to the speed and he looks a great each way chance at the staying distance. MIKIS PRIDE (11) is having his first run in seven weeks and that could be against him in a strong line-up over this trip but he does have plenty of ability. Tips: 5 7 6 11 Suggested Bet: WAVERIDER (5) to win. Race 4 SWEET VIVIENNE (2) went to a new level when leading throughout in 1.54.8 at her last start and she will give a great sight if she can repeat that performance. BETTORS PRIDE (9) resumed with a nice win in quick time to bring up his 7th win from his 12 career starts and is a major player again despite the wide draw. LOUIE DIOR (10) will need luck from this barrier but he will be charging home if he sees daylight at the right time. HIGHVIEW BONDI (4) worked hard when 2nd to SWEET VIVIENNE (2) at his last start and has the strength to face the breeze and be in the finish again. Tips: 2 9 10 4 Suggested Bet: SWEET VIVIENNE (2) each way. Race 5 BETTATHANLIFE (5) worked hard in the run when nosed out by FAKENIT (4) last week who ran on strongly from midfield. They could end up in the breeze and one-one here and I’ve got a slight leaning to BETTATHANLIFE (5) but there shouldn’t be much between them at the finish. RUBY LOVERA (1) has won four of her last six starts and should lead and make it difficult for the Hall pair. COPPER HEAD LADY (2) is nicely drawn and could be the blowout chance of the race is run to suit. REINETTE (10) is a good place chance from her soft trailing draw. Tips: 5 4 1 2 Suggested Bet: BETTATHANLIFE (5) to win. Race 6 SWEET PINS (6) suffered defeat for the first time here last week when he had no luck in the last lap. He is likely to be driven more aggressively tonight and should bounce back into the winners’ circle. BRONZED (1) has the speed to lead early and looks a good place chance. BEAT THE BANK (10) has been unplaced in his last five starts but will enjoy a soft run on the pegs and can get into the money. GOODTIME LOUIS (4) found the pace too hot last week but drops in class tonight and should be prominent throughout. Tips: 6 1 10 4 Suggested Bet: SWEET PINS (6) to win. Race 7 MISTER SMARTEE (8) won the Nullarbor and Fremantle Cup in his last two starts before going for a break and resumed with a nice 4th to Magnificent Storm. He will strip fitter for that effort and is clearly the one to beat despite the wide draw. CAPTAIN RAVISHING (3) is now with Lindsay Harper and crosses the Nullarbor with an imposing record. He looks the likely leader and will give them something to catch but his trial indicates that he isn’t fully wound up. LUSAKA (6) had no luck at his last start and is versatile enough to overcome his awkward barrier. SWINGBAND (7) is the other class runner of the field and trialled nicely for his return but will need some luck from out here. Tips: 8 3 6 7 Suggested Bet: MISTER SMARTEE (8) to win. Race 8 LOCAL RESIDENT (1) led throughout from this barrier at Northam at his last start and appeals as the one to beat again despite the rise in class. I LIKE WHAT I SEE (3) hasn’t lived up to expectations since coming to WA but her last effort had merit and this looks a suitable assignment. TAKE A HIKE (7) is racing consistently and can figure if he has a bit of luck finding a position in the early stages. JAMIE KIM (10) is limited but gets the draw to be a good place chance. Tips: 1 3 7 10 Suggested Bet: LOCAL RESIDENT (1) to win. Race 9 GRAND COUTEAU (2) hasn’t had a great deal of luck since she led throughout seven starts back but she looks the likely leader here and will be hard to catch in that role. HER PRESENCE (3) is another who has been bereft of luck lately but she can be driven positively here and should fight out the finish. RELATIVELY ARMA (6) should be approaching her peak at her third run back from a spell and should make her presence felt. SOHO VESPER LIND (4) is racing very consistently and maps to enjoy a nice run just behind the speed. Tips: 2 3 6 4 Suggested Bet: GRAND COUTEAU (2) to win. Race 10 ALDEBARAN BOYD (2) recorded back-to-back victories from the mobile before he was held up at a crucial stage when 3rd to NICKYS SON (5) at his last start. He has the handicap advantage over his main rivals and will be hard to beat if he can step cleanly and find the front. MAJESTIC GA GA (7) won six of her last eight starts before going for a spell and her recent trial victory indicated that she is in for another good campaign and is the obvious danger. NICKYS SON (5) and CHUMANI (6) finished 1st and 2nd in a recent Pinjarra event and are reliable trotters but lack the class of the favoured pair. Tips: 2 7 5 6 Suggested Bet: ALDEBARAN BOYD (2) to win. Market Market
