Trent Cooper’s Gloucester Park Preview Posted on February 13, 2025February 13, 2025 | Posted by Trent Cooper Race 1 CHILLI PUNTER (1) followed back-to-back victories with a solid 3rd from the breeze here last week after starting from a back line draw. She takes on the boys tonight but looks the likely leader from the pole and she should prove hard to catch in that role. CHILLIN (2) was a good 3rd in stronger company here last week and will be prominent throughout tonight. SPYGLASS (4) had a perfect trip when defeating Star Casino at his last start and will make his presence felt. MAJOR JAY (3) has been placed in five of his past seven starts and should be thereabouts again. Tips: 1 2 4 3 Suggested Bet: CHILLI PUNTER (1) to win. Race 2 THELITTLE MASTER (7) followed a dominant win over MISTER MACEDON (8) with a good 2nd to Waverider here last week and he will be charging home again here. MISTER MACEDON (8) broke back into the winners’ circle with a strong effort from the breeze here last week and should fight out the finish again. REGAL CHEVAL (6) is better suited at the sprint trip but is racing too well to overlook. CHACO EAGLE (4) was extremely disappointing here a fortnight ago but must be considered on his previous form. Tips: 7 8 6 4 Suggested Bet: THELITTLE MASTER (7) to win. Race 3 ITS MAA TIME (2) displayed plenty of ability in his first campaign and warmed up for this with an impressive Pinjarra trial win. He hasn’t shown great gate speed so may not be able to make the most of the barrier but he will still give a great sight. REINETTE (8) ran 2nd in the Golden Slipper at her last run before a break and resumed with s comfortable Bunbury win and has the class to overcome the wide draw. CHARIVARI (6) has two wins under 1.56.0 to his name already and must be respected. HOLD THE AMMO (9) has resumed with consecutive wins in easier company and will come into play if there is a strong early tempo. Tips: 2 8 6 9 Suggested Bet: ITS MAA TIME (2) to win. Race 4 FRANCO ECUADOR (1) didn’t have much luck when finishing just behind the placegetters here last week and will give a great sight from the pole if he holds up at the start or sits just behind the speed. HAMPTON BANNER (4) is racing as well as ever and showed last start that he doesn’t have to lead to win an event like this. MACHNIFICENT (3) and TO FAST TO SERIOUS (12) will become winning chances if they run the first lap in quick time which looks a distinct possibility. Tips: 1 4 3 12 Suggested Bet: FRANCO ECUADOR (1) each way. Race 5 CAPTAINS BEACHBABE (4) has been beaten as a short-priced favourite at Albany at her last two starts which isn’t normally a good form line for a Friday night GP event. Her two efforts, however, were full of merit and she should be in the finish if she doesn’t have to do too much work in the run. JOEY JAMES (2) has been unplaced in his last eight starts but drops in class and has a hood added. JAXON MORGAN (7) has been in the money in eight of his ten starts this time in and can figure again. BETTOR MOVE ALONG (8) is the only last start winner in the field and must be respected. Tips: 4 2 7 8 Suggested Bet: CAPTAINS BEACHBABE (4) to win. Race 6 DALVEY ROBYN (7) followed a good win over Swingband with a narrow 2nd to Hamption Banner and appeals as the one to beat here despite the wide draw. ROCKANDROLLARTIST (8) led throughout in good time over this trip before sitting outside Ventura when a gallant 2nd to that pacer and will be extremely hard to beat if he can cross at the start. IDEAL TOMADO (2) is racing well and won’t know himself from an inside barrier tonight. HEAVENLY WAGE (1) follows speed well and can be placed from the pole. Tips: 7 8 2 1 Suggested Bet: DALVEY ROBYN (7) to win. Race 7 PATCHED (7) ran three consecutive 2nds (two behind HOLD THAT GOLD (6)) before being perfectly driven to win the Trotters’ Cup. He will appreciate the small field and likely solid tempo and will be hard to hold out. HOLD THAT GOLD (6) won seven on end before the weight of being tipped by Taylor Courtland was too much to bear when he finished at the rear and pulled up sore. He has had a month off since that run and will be hard to beat if anywhere near his best. ALDEBARAN SUNDOWN (3) led throughout to defeat a weaker field at his last start and should give them something to catch here. SELLUNE (1) made up many lengths when 2nd in that event and should settle closer here. Tips: 7 6 3 1 Suggested Bet: PATCHED (7) to win. Race 8 BLAZE COOPS (4) has been fancied but unable to win since a first-up all-the-way victory. She looks likely to find the front and roll and along here and gets one more chance. FREYJA (6) is flying and will be hard to beat as long as she doesn’t have to lead up the one-wide line. CHAMPAGNE EVERYONE (5) has resumed in hot form and can win with the right run. CAPTAINSHAVTIME (7) has won seven of her ten career starts including a comfortable first-up win and can’t be overlooked despite the wide draw. Tips: 4 6 5 7 Suggested Bet: BLAZE COOPS (4) to win.
