Trent Cooper’s Gloucester Park Preview Posted on February 6, 2025February 6, 2025 | Posted by Trent Cooper Race 1 VANDERBILT (5) has been unplaced in his last four starts but he is drawn inside his main rivals tonight and will be hard to catch if he can find the front without doing too much work. GREATGREAT BOULDER (9) started favourite in the Northam Cup but blew the stand before making up a heap of ground. He will settle at the rear and needs a solid tempo but he will be charging home. MISTER MACEDON (8) has been placed in six of his last seven starts and has the strength needed to overcome the wide draw. MAJOR JAY (11) is racing consistently and can be in the money again. Tips: 5 9 8 11 Suggested Bet: VANDERBILT (5) to win. Race 2 VENTURA (3) faced the breeze when a game 2nd in the Nights Of Thunder Final and looks very hard to beat tonight. SOHO SANTORINI (1) led throughout here two starts back but may elect to sit tonight and should be in the finish. CORDERO (9) will be out of play if the favourite strolls to the front but will be a blowout chance if that doesn’t happen and there is a strong tempo throughout. ROCKANDROLLARTIST (5) will give them something to catch if he can use his brilliant gate speed to find the front but there are quick beginners drawn under him here. Tips: 3 1 9 5 Suggested Bet: VENTURA (3) to win. Race 3 STENO (4) led throughout from a wide draw to win the Christmas Belles in quick time at her last start and will be very hard to beat over the sprint trip if she finds the front tonight. WONDERFUL TO FLY (2) disappointed last time in but her recent trial was impressive and she looks the main danger from her nice draw. PEACEFUL (1) won’t know herself on the pegs and looks a great place chance even though she doesn’t have the class of her main rivals. WATER LOU (7) has won 21 of her 28 starts and trialled very nicely for her return and can’t be overlooked but she faces a tough task from out here. Tips: 4 2 1 7 Suggested Bet: STENO (4) to win. Race 4 DALVEY ROBYN (10) had been racing well but went to a new level when running on to defeat Swingband here last week. This looks a slightly easier assignment and he should be hard to hold out. TO FAST TO SERIOUS (7) drops in class on his recent assignments and will be suited by a likely solid tempo. FRANCO ECUADOR (4) wasn’t suited in the Nights Of Thunder series but should enjoy a nice run here and should make his presence felt. HIGH PRICE (2) defeated FRANCO ECUADOR (4) and DALVEY ROBYN (10) three starts back and looks a major player from his nice draw. Tips: 10 7 4 2 Suggested Bet: DALVEY ROBYN (10) to win. Race 5 CEASE TO REACT (2) showed a nice turn of foot to win on debut and appeals as the one to beat with race experience and a barrier advantage over his rivals. INTHEHEARTOFTEXAS (4) looked good in winning a recent Byford trial and looks an obvious danger. BUTTER ME UP (10) defeated CEASE TO REACT (2) in a trial back in November so must be respected despite the backline draw. WHEELS OF FORTUNE (5) won a Pinjarra trial in moderate time and comes from a stable that has a had a lot of success with juveniles in recent seasons. Tips: 2 4 10 5 Suggested Bet: CEASE TO REACT (2) to win. Race 6 LITTLE CHINA GIRL (1) has been sold and changed trainers since an impressive debut victory and she should recoup some of the purchase price by leading throughout tonight. LIVY ANN (7) was a game 2nd to the favourite at her first race start and should run a great race again but it is hard to see her turning the tables from this draw. MISS RED VELVET (8) looked very good in winning a recent trial and is one to watch. LADY MERMAID (10) has trialled well enough to indicate she is a good place chance from a nice trailing draw. Tips: 1 7 8 10 Suggested Bet: LITTLE CHINA GIRL (1) to win. Race 7 SHOWPONY (5) has performed well in running 2nd at both starts for his new stable and should fight out the finish again. ROCK ARTIST (3) wasn’t racing at his best but he was freshened up when he looked unlucky here last week and looks a major player from his nice draw. KABOCHON (7) isn’t suited at this trip but he has plenty of ability and the race could be run to suit. REGAL CHEVAL (8) will need luck from out here but is racing as well as ever and likes the sprint trips. Tips: 5 3 7 8 Suggested Bet: SHOWPONY (5) to win. Race 8 HEEZ A VIBE (4) won four on end before being in consecutive events where the race wasn’t run to suit. He looks a good chance to find the front tonight and should give a great sight in that role. WAVERIDER (8) is the class horse in the field and has the versatility to overcome the wide draw. THELITTLE MASTER (7) will be suited by the small field and will be charging home if there is a reasonable tempo. INSTA GATOR (6) can control the race from the breeze and should be right in the finish. Tips: 4 8 7 6 Suggested Bet: HEEZ A VIBE (4) to win. Race 9 CAPTAINSHAVTIME (3) is a 3YO filly taking on seasoned pacers which isn’t a good punting formula at this time of the year but she did run 3rd in the Golden Slipper and has a bigger future than any of these. NAVY STREET (7) can’t do too much work in his races but he was a nice 3rd in a stronger field here last week and has the gate speed to be prominent. GEE SMITH (2) was narrowly beaten in the Northam Cup and looks a major player from his nice barrier. GALAXY WARRIOR (5) had no luck here last week and can figure if he gets the right run in transit. Tips: 4 7 2 5 Suggested Bet: CAPTAINSHAVTIME (3) to win. Market Market
