Trent Cooper’s Gloucester Park Preview Posted on August 8, 2024August 8, 2024 | Posted by Trent Cooper Race 1 MONTANA GLORY (10) resumes here without a trial and is yet to win in WA but this isn’t a strong field and she will be hard to hold out if she is near her best and has the luck needed from her awkward barrier. SEVEN NO TRUMPS (1) has finished just behind the placegetters at his last two starts and should give a great sight from the pole. JOHNNY LOMBO (8) has faced the breeze in his last three starts for two wins and a 3rd and should make his presence felt again. AMAZING AMERICAN (3) is first-up but has ability so monitor the market. Tips: 10 1 8 3 Suggested Bet: MONTANA GLORY (10) to win. Race 2 DARK EYES (2) caught the eye when finishing on the heels of the placegetters in a hot field here last week. He is perfectly drawn tonight and appeals as the one to beat. LET IT LINGA (3) has been placed at his last four starts and should be right in the finish again here. TUBBS FARQUAR (7) is back in form and is capable of overcoming his wide draw. STAR OF WILLOUGHBY (1) is likely to sit behind the leader and can be placed from that position. Tips: 2 3 7 1 Suggested Bet: DARK EYES (2) to win. Race 3 BET THE HOUSE (3) faced the breeze and looked winner here last week when run down on the line by Artful Miki in 1.56.6. He looks set to take up the same position again but will strip fitter and looks the one to beat. CROWD CONTROL (1) ran a close 2nd in 1.56.7 at his last start and looks the obvious danger from the pole. WHATARETHEODDS (9) was held up until too late when. 2nd here last week but has a tough draw to overcome tonight. LUCAPELO (10) has been racing well and can sneak into the money at big odds from his nice trailing draw. Tips: 3 1 9 10 Suggested Bet: BET THE HOUSE (3) to win. Race 4 TENZING BROMAC (7) was game when narrowly beaten by Never Ending at his first run back from a spell and then turned the tables here last week. He is drawn wide again but is clearly the one to beat. STEEL THE SHOW (6) wasn’t far away when 4th to TENZING BROMAC (6) here last week and will give them something to catch if he can find the front. THE MIKI TAKER (5) has handled the rise to fast class well but his lack of gate speed will make things difficult tonight. SOHO DOW JONES (3) wasn’t far away when 4th to Never Ending at his last start and can play a part from his favourable barrier. Tips: 7 6 5 3 Suggested Bet: TENZING BROMAC (7) to win. Race 5 BETTAGETONPIP (1) is a strong filly who looks the likely leader and she is very hard to get past. She wasn’t impressive in her heat win but will strip fitter for that effort and is clearly the one to beat from the pole. COPPER HEAD LADY (2) has won three of her four career starts including a win over the favourite in the Sales Classic and is the obvious danger. JAXS IDEAL (10) worked hard when 4th to COOPER HEAD LADY (2) in her heat but is drawn to enjoy a nice run here and should be thereabouts. QUEEN OF ALL (7) was only narrowly beaten by BETTAGETONPIP (1) in her heat and is worth as speck at good each way odds. Tips: 1 2 10 7 Suggested Bet: BETTAGETONPIP (1) to win. Race 6 PENNY BLACK (8) brought up her sixth win from as many starts when she overcame a backline draw to record a dominant victory over RATTLIN LILY (9) and LITTLE DARLING (7) here a fortnight ago and is clearly the one to beat again. SISTER CHERIE (1) had a bit to offer when held up behind Aardiebytheseaside here last week and looks a big improver from the pole. RATTLIN LILY (9) and LITTLE DARLING (7) both worked hard when placed behind the favourite at their last starts and should be thereabouts again. Tips: 8 1 7 9 Suggested Bet: PENNY BLACK (8) to win. Race 7 AARDIEBYTHESEASIDE (4) has impressed in winning all four of her WA starts in slick time. She goes up in class and takes on the boys tonight but still looks the one to beat. PAUL EDWARD (1) didn’t get clear until too late at his last start and should enjoy all the favours and be right in the finish from the pole. LUSAKA (6) has been placed in ten of his past 11 starts and can upset his stablemate if he gets the right breaks. CARANA (2) is racing well in stands and can be in the money at good odds here from his nice draw. Tips: 4 1 6 2 Suggested Bet: AARDIEBYTHESEASIDE (4) to win. Race 8 SOLESSEO MATUCA (1) continued his good form when a strong winner from the breeze in good time here last week. He looks the leader here and will be very hard to catch. STATE OF HEAVEN (2) is likely to go to the favourite’s back and looks a great chance to fill thr quinella position. ACUTO (4) led when a game 2nd in 1.54.8 here last week and can be placed with the right run. OCTOBER REIGN (6) looks the breeze horse and that could work out well if the leader is keeping his dangers in a pocket. Tips: 1 2 4 6 Suggested Bet: SOLESSEO MATUCA (1) to win. Race 9 WHOS THE DAD (2) has only been placed once in his last five starts but he gets blinkers and Aiden De Campo back on board here and he should prove hard to beat. SOHO FIRESTONE (3) has finished midfield at his last three starts but should enjoy a nice run and should fight out the finish. PAROQUET (4) can take up a forward position without expending too much anergy and should give a sight at good each way odds. IDEAL TOMADO (8) continues to be plagued by wide barriers but is racing well and will be charging home if there is a solid early tempo. Tips: 2 3 4 8 Suggested Bet: WHOS THE DAD (2) to win. Race 10 CLASSIC CHOICE (2) has been driven with a sit this time in without success. This looks an ideal race for him to go forward at the start and he will be hard to beat if he can find the front. SUGAR STREET (8) disappointed when beaten into 3rd as a short-priced favourite at his first run back from a spell but he does have plenty of ability. DOC HOLLIDAY (1) isn’t the quickest beginner but he should be thereabouts if he can hold up in the early stages. WITHOUTTHETUH (7) hass generally been disappointing but must be considered in this class. Tips: 2 8 1 7 Suggested Bet: CLASSIC CHOICE (2) to win. Market Market
