Trent Cooper’s Gloucester Park Preview Posted on May 10, 2024May 10, 2024 | Posted by Trent Cooper Race 1 WAVERIDER (8) followed a strong first-up victory with a gallant 2nd in Caduceus Club Classic when he did all the work in the last lap. He is drawn poorly here but is clearly the one to beat. ARMA BELIEVER (5) used his good gate speed to settle in a prominent position when 3rd in that event and will give a sight if he can cross at the start. OPAL HUNTER (7) started favourite in the Caduceus Club Classic but couldn’t hold up from the pole and never threatened from that point on. ARIONROCK (1) was a good winner in weaker company at his last start and the rise in class is offset by the pole draw. Tips: 8 5 7 1 Suggested Bet: WAVERIDER (8) to win. Race 2 ALTA RHETT (5) drops in class on his recent assignments and appeals as the one to beat in an open affair. CLOUD NINE (10) trialled nicely for his return and will be charging home if he sees daylight at the right time. YANKEE LINCOLN (1) loves racing on the pegs and should be a sharp improver from this draw. TWOBOB CRACKER (2) should be ready to show his best at his third run back from a spell and looks a good each way chance. Tips: 5 10 1 2 Suggested Bet: ALTA RHETT (5) to win. Race 3 BRICKIES DREAM (1) is racing well and his good gate speed and perfect draw make him extremely hard to beat here. CAPTAIN BLIGH (6) has resumed with three consecutive victories but rises in class tonight. MAGNUS VICTOR (3) faced the breeze and was only beaten 2m in 1.53.8 at his last start and should make his presence felt again. YOU FLY WITH ME (10) doesn’t have the class of many of his rivals but can be placed from his nice trailing draw. Tips: 1 6 3 10 Suggested Bet: BRICKIES DREAM (1) to win. Race 4 JETT STAR (8) has worked hard in the run when finishing 2nd at his last two starts. He looks in for a tough trip again but can go one better tonight. STAR CASINO (5) was slightly disappointing at his last start but he has a sharp turn of foot and will be dangerous with the right trip. CLASSIC CHOICE (2) has been unplaced in his last seven starts but he has been battling bad barriers and should improve here. DOMINUS FACTUM (6) could cross at the start if desired and should be at peak fitness at his fifth run back from a spell. Tips: 8 5 2 6 Suggested Bet: JETT STAR (8) to win. Race 5 ACHARNE GIRL (10) was a good 2nd to Aardiebytheseaside here last week and is the one to beat here. Being the only runner on the back line, she has options at the start. HUNT THE MAGIC (4) is now living up to her early promise and looks a major player again. SWEET VIVIENNE (10 doesn’t appear to be racing at her peak but should still give a sight from the pole. WALL STREET GIRL (5) has been placed in seven of her nine starts this time in and should be thereabouts again. Tips: 10 4 1 5 Suggested Bet: ACHARNE GIRL (10) to win. Race 6 HAMPTON BANNER (1) led when a 4m 3rd to Tenzing Bromac four starts back and he will be hard to catch if he can reproduce that effort. LUSAKA (5) rises in class on his last two wins but his times indicate he is up to the task. THE MIKI TAKER (4) couldn’t get into the race at his last start but looks the other winning chance based on his previous form. MY ULTIMATE BACXTER (2) is drawn to get a perfect run and shouldn’t be far away. Tips: 1 5 4 2 Suggested Bet: HAMPTON BANNER (1) to win. Race 7 OUR MAESTOSO (5) led and disappointed when beaten into 3rd placing first-up but will strip fitter and he has won 12 of his 15 career starts. EVAS IMAGE (3) has been placed in 18 consecutive starts and he did beat home the favourite first-up. NICKYS SON (1) has recorded three wins from his last five starts and the rise in class is offset by the pole draw. ALDEBARAN SUNDOWN (6) was very disappointing at his last start but would be major player on his previous form. Tips: 5 3 1 6 Suggested Bet: OUR MAESTOSO (5) to win. Race 8 STORM THE BEACH (7) drops considerably in class on his latest assignments and is clearly the one to beat. FOLLOW THE MUSIC (3) had plenty of excuses at his last start and should make his presence felt against this line-up. BALTIC ACE (1) sat behind the leader when 4th here last week and shouldn’t be far away again. VALHALLA MISS (4) chased hard when a distant 5th in a stronger field here last week and can be in the money. Tips: 7 3 1 4 Suggested Bet: STORM THE BEACH (7) to win. Race 9 HIGHVIEW HEIDI (8) raced well in her first campaign and her recent trial indicated that she has improved further and looks capable of overcoming the wide draw. SHOOBEES DOUBLE (3) finished 2nd to HIGHVIEW HEIDI (8) before going for a break and finished 4th behind her in a recent trial but she has the barrier advantage tonight. REINETTE (6) has won two of her three race starts and ran good time in her last start victory. POPPYS LAST DANCE (7) was a good winner here at her second race start and looks to have scope for improvement. Tips: 8 3 6 7 Suggested Bet: HIGHVIEW HEIDI (8) to win. Market Market
