Trent Cooper’s Good Friday Gloucester Park Preview Posted on March 28, 2024March 28, 2024 | Posted by Trent Cooper Race 1 STREET APPEAL (1) followed some solid form with an all-the-way win here on Tuesday and is clearly the one to beat after coming up with the pole draw. JUSTLIKE TURBO (2) was a strong 2nd here last week and should be prominent throughout. BEYOND BLING (3) finished just behind the placegetters in a stronger field at his last start and can figure. SHOOT THROUGH (7) crossed from this draw when 4th here last week and could try to do the same again. Tips: 1 2 3 7 Suggested Bet: STREET APPEAL (1) to win. Race 2 OFF THE CHARTS (1) has been solid at his two starts back from a spell but looks a big improver from the pole and should give a great sight. GOLDEN LODE (8) won three on end before he was far from disgraced when 2nd to Opal Hunter and has the turn of foot to overcome the wide draw. GREVIS (7) ran on well to finish 3rd in a hot field here on Monday and should be thereabouts again. KABOCHON (3) impressed when winning at his first run back from a spell and looks capable of matching the rise in class. Tips: 1 8 7 3 Suggested Bet: OFF THE CHARTS (1) to win. Race 3 LAMANDIER (7) led throughout here five starts back and has finished towards the rear at his subsequent runs. He has good gate speed and will be hard to catch if he can cross at the start but he is one-dimensional. POST GAME (2) has only been placed in one of his last six starts but looks a big improver from his nice draw. BURGHLEY SHARD (1) was crossed from this barrier here last week but should be thereabouts again. RUPERT OF LINCOLN (4) was a strong winner from the breeze at his last start and can work in the run. Tips: 7 2 1 4 Suggested Bet: LAMANDIER (7) to win. Race 4 HOPPYS WAY (3) led throughout at his first run back from a spell and will be hard to catch tonight if he can cross in the early stages. THE MIKI TAKER (2) faced the breeze when a strong 4th in that event and will make his presence felt again but doesn’t have the gate speed to take advantage of his nice draw. FINVARRA (6) couldn’t make up the required ground in a quick last half in the same race but must be respected. OCTOBER REIGN (1) sat behind HOPPYS WAY (3) when 2nd to that pacer and looks a great place chance again. Tips: 3 2 6 1 Suggested Bet: HOPPYS WAY (3) to win. Race 5 ALL IS WELL (1) was only beaten 1.5 metres by Never Ending here last week and will be very hard to beat if he can hold up at the start. FLYING RUMOUR (8) is racing at the top of his game and he may use his good gate speed to overcome the wide draw. SKYLORD (3) was unplaced as a $1.45 favourite at his first run back from a spell but will strip fitter and can make his presence felt. ARMA XFACTOR (6) couldn’t make up ground in a quick last half at his first run back from a spell but can figure. Tips: 1 8 3 6 Suggested Bet: ALL IS WELL (1) to win. Race 6 SKYLOU (3) and IM THE BLACK FLASH (4) finished first and third in the WA Derby at their last start (with Never Ending between them) and they both warmed up for this assignment with placings behind Hampton Banner in a recent Pinjarra trial. Whichever one of the pair that finds the front will be the one to beat and SKYLOU (3) has the barrier advantage. ARDENS HORIZON (9) loves the stand and can run a race at good each way odds. LUCCA (8) was a good winner here last week but is unlikely to find the top tonight. Tips: 3 4 9 8 Suggested Bet: ARDENS HORIZON (9) each way. Race 7 TURN THE PAGE (5) resumed with a strong win from the breeze and is the one to beat again. ACHARNE GIRL (6) is first up but won three of her four starts last time in and looks the obvious danger. FLEUR DE MAQUIS (2) led when 3rd in solid time here last week and will give some cheek if she can find the front again. MIGHTHAVTIME (4) finished 4th to Steno in the golden Girls and is always a great place chance in mares’ company. Tips: 5 6 2 4 Suggested Bet: TURN THE PAGE (5) to win. Race 8 MISTER SMARTEE (7) has won five of his seven career starts and warmed up for this assignment with a win in a red-hot Pinjarra trial. He is drawn wide tonight but is clearly the one to beat. IRA POOLE (3) has ability and will test his stablemate if he leads and reproduces his 1.54.8 win of five starts back. ILLAWONG MUSTANG (2) looks a good place chance if he can cross the polemarker at the start. GALAXY WARRIOR (5) is the next best. Tips: 7 3 2 5 Suggested Bet: MISTER SMARTEE (7) to win. Race 9 WATTS UP SUNSHINE (1) caught the eye when a close-up in a stronger field here last week and should lead and prove very hard to beat tonight. EL CHEMA (3) is a very capable sit-sprinter who will be charging home and looks the obvious danger. LETS GET ROCKIN (2) has won two of his three starts here and the rise in class is offset by a nice draw. SOLESSEO MATUCA (6) has the ability but the draw will make it tough. Tips: 1 3 2 6 Suggested Bet: WATTS UP SUNSHINE (1) to win. Race 10 HES NEVER BEEN BETA (1) has won his last two starts and will be at very short odds to bring up the hat-trick. DUTY BOUND (2) is racing well and looks the only danger. SOUND WAVE (9) never saw daylight when beaten as a $1.24 favourite here last week and has a horror draw to overcome here. GYPSY DRAGON (10) is drawn to get the run of the race and can be placed. Tips: 1 2 9 10 Suggested Bet: HES NEVER BEEN BETA (1) to win. Market Market
