Trent Cooper’s Gloucester Park Preview Posted on December 7, 2023December 7, 2023 | Posted by Trent Cooper Race 1 HOLY HECKA (2) caught the eye with a fast-finishing 3rd at his WA debut before impressing with a dominant 36m win at his last start. He steps up significantly in class tonight but is drawn well and appeals as the one to beat. INSTA GATOR (1) has been placed in seven of his nine starts this time in and looks a good each way chance from the pole. CROWD CONTROL (4) was a good all-the-way winner at his last start but is versatile and should make his presence felt. FRISKY STYX (5) is now living up to his NZ form with wins at his last two starts but is drawn outside his main rivals tonight. Tips: 2 1 4 5 Suggested Bet: INSTA GATOR (1) each way. Race 2 STORMYSKYES (1) has been hampered by wide barriers but her last two efforts have been full of merit and she should give a great sight if she can hold up at the start. CYCLONE CHARLOTTE (9) is the class mare of the field who wasn’t disgraced against the boys last week and has the ability to overcome her wide draw. IM THEMIGHTYLUCY (2) should enjoy a nice run just behind the speed and can be dangerous at each way odds. THREE RUMOURS (3) was a strong winner from the breeze over STORMYSKYES (1) two starts back and will make her presence felt. Tips: 1 9 2 3 Suggested Bet: STORMYSKYES (1) each way. Race 3 PAUL EDWARD (2) has been blocked for a run at his two starts this time in but he drops in class tonight and can make his own luck from this draw. MISTER MONTBLANC (4) couldn’t get into the race here last week but he was an impressive 1.56.5 winner before that and looks an obvious danger. FLYING RUMOUR (6) has led throughout to win his two starts back from a spell and will give them something to catch if he can cross at the start. BURGHLEY SHARD (1) is drawn to follow the speed and can be placed at odds. Tips: 2 4 6 1 Suggested Bet: PAUL EDWARD (2) to win. Race 4 BEE JAYS BOY (3) was fancied here last week but was crossed at the start and didn’t see clear running. He drops in class for this assignment and looks the one to beat. STAR OF WILLOUGHBY (5) caught the eye when he ran on from near the rear to finish 2nd to Firerockfireroll at his last start and should be charging home again. CLOUD NINE (7) has only been placed in one of his last five starts but drops in class here and can figure. MADDY MADDY (1) is drawn to get a nice run behind the speed and looks a good place chance. Tips: 3 5 7 1 Suggested Bet: CLOUD NINE (7) each way. Race 5 MACHNIFICENT (6) has performed well at his last two starts despite being driven out of his comfort zone and should prove hard to beat tonight. ROCKMYSTER (4) was held up here last week after a strong all-the-way win at his previous start and looks the obvious danger. VALBONNE (3) is first-up without a trial but he has good gate speed and could give them something to catch if he is near his top. AMERICAN BULLITT (1) should enjoy a nice run just behind the speed and will be dangerous if he sees daylight at the right time. Tips: 6 4 3 1 Suggested Bet: MACHNIFICENT (6) to win. Race 6 MAGNIFICENT STORM (2) is the state’s best pacer who should lead and win this event comfortably with the interest being in whether he attempts to break the track record. ARMA EINSTEIN (3) chased hard when 2nd to the favourite here last week and can fill the same position again. WILDWEST (4) will sit four back on the pegs and will be charging home. BABYFACE ADDA (1) will trail the favourite and be given any chance and his place chances are likely to depend on how far from home they are when the tow rope snaps. Tips: 2 3 4 1 Suggested Bet: MAGNIFICENT STORM (2) to win. Race 7 LUSAKA (1) wasn’t disgraced when 4th at his first start from the stand here last week and he will be hard to catch if he can step cleanly and find the front tonight. MINSTEL (9) ran a slashing 3rd in the WA Pacing Cup and is the class runner of the field who is capable of overcoming the 30m, handicap. ARDENS HORIZON (6) wasn’t suited first-up but he has been placed in ten of his 13 starts from the stand and should be thereabouts. THE MUSTANG (8) has been unplaced in his only two runs from the tapes but is the other class runner in the event. Tips: 1 9 6 8 Suggested Bet: LUSAKA (1) to win. Race 8 HOPPYS WAY (1) led when a gallant 2nd in the 4YO Classic here last week and should lead and prove hard to catch tonight. CORDERO (2) should sit on the leaders’ back and looks a great place chance. BORN TO BOOGIE (4) was placed in both of the Mares’ Classics and will be charging home again. VULTAN TIN (5) is now an 11YO but won a recent Pinjarra trial in great time and can’t be overlooked despite the awkward draw. Tips: 1 2 4 5 Suggested Bet: HOPPYS WAY (1) to win. Market Market
