Trent Cooper’s Gloucester Park Preview Posted on October 5, 2023October 5, 2023 | Posted by Trent Cooper Race 1 HILLVIEW BONDI (6) faced the breeze at his last start when 3rd in 1.54.1 over this trip and a similar performance will make him the one to beat. CLASSIC CHOICE (10) has finished just behind the placegetters in his last four starts but drops in class for this assignment and he is capable of overcoming the backline draw. THE KRAKEN (3) was a strong 2nd over this distance three starts back and has the draw to make his presence felt. THOMSON BAY (2) is drawn to be prominent throughout and should be considered. Tips: 6 10 3 2 Suggested Bet: HILLVIEW BONDI (6) to win. Race 2 WHOS THE DAD (3) has been unplaced in his last three starts but he looks a good chance to find the front here and should give a great sight in that role. ROCKABALL (6) always needs some luck in his races but he has a sharp turn of foot and will be charging home. MUSZTANG (7) disappointed as a $1.36 favourite at his last start but must be considered on his previous form. CALLMEWHATUWANT (10) is drawn to get a soft run on the pegs and can be dangerous at good each way odds. Tips: 3 6 7 10 Suggested Bet: WHOS THE DAD (3) to win. Race 3 CHAL PATCH (3) has stepped up in class at his last two starts and impressed with a last start victory over Youre So Fine. He is nicely drawn here and should give a great sight. VALENTINES BROOK (4) has been running on well in slowly run affairs and will be suited by the likely stronger tempo. VAMPIRO (9) appreciated the drop in class when 3rd to Mea Culpa and may elect to use his gate speed tonight. MASTER PUBLISHER (10) has won three of his last four starts and can figure from this draw. Tips: 3 4 9 10 Suggested Bet: CHAL PATCH (3) to win. Race 4 MINSTREL (1) wasn’t far away when a first-up 7th a fortnight ago and will be hard to beat if he can hold up at the start. MIGHTY RONALDO (3) has finished just the behind the placegetters at his last two starts but will settle closer to the leader tonight and looks the main danger. HIMSELF (2 overcame a wide draw to finish 3rd to Steel The Show at his last start and should be prominent throughout. JUMPINGJACKMAC (7) is racing well but hasn’t been suited by slowly run events and he could be the victim of that likely scenario again. Tips: 1 3 2 7 Suggested Bet: MINSTREL (1) to win. Race 5 AUGUST MOON (4) won five on end to start this campaign and was then far from disgraced when 5th to TURN THE PAGE (12) when she had to do all the work in the last lap. She has a barrier advantage over her main rivals and tonight and appeals as the one to beat. TURN THE PAGE (12) was a strong winner from the breeze in that event but has to overcome a backline draw tonight. SOHO SERAPHINE (11) was an impressive all-the-way winner at her first start in WA but won’t be able to lead from this barrier. ZEPHYRA (2) is next best. Tips: 4 12 11 2 Suggested Bet: TURN THE PAGE (12) each way. Race 6 LUSAKA (4) followed an effortless first-up all-the-way victory with a strong 2nd to El Casanova after facing the breeze and appeals as the one to beat here. MY ULTIMATE BAXTER (1) ran a solid 3rd in that event and should give a great sight from the pole. STAR CASINO (6) has returned from a spell with two wins and a close 2nd to Fess Up but is awkwardly drawn tonight. MY LITTLE BIG MAN (11) has been racing very well in stands and shouldn’t be far away from his nice trailing draw. Tips: 4 1 6 11 Suggested Bet: LUSAKA (4) to win. Race 7 CARANA (3) has resumed with two impressive standing start wins and will be very hard to beat if he steps cleanly from the tapes. LOVE ON THE ROCKS (7) was a strong 3rd at his first start in the state before winning a mobile event here last week and is the obvious danger. SEERYANFLY (12) enjoyed a lovely run in transit when beating a similar field at his last start but goes back to the 20m handicap tonight. SOHO DOW JONES (11) is an inconsistent type but is capable if he displays his best. Tips: 3 7 12 11 Suggested Bet: CARANA (3) to win. Race 8 HOPPYS WAY (11) has been racing consistently in stronger company and looks a major player from his nice trailing draw. CODENAME MARCUS (7) worked hard in the breeze and impressed when battling on to finish 2nd to Skylou at his last start and will find this easier. BELLEZZA NERA (3) comes into a perfect barrier after the scratching and should be thereabouts. EXTRAORDINARY MARY (10) is racing well and will be charging home if she sees daylight at the right time from her awkward draw. Tips: 11 7 3 10 Suggested Bet: HOPPYS WAY (11) to win. Race 9 WONDERFUL TO FLY (5) has won five of her last seven starts and is clearly the one to beat despite being beaten into 2nd as a $1.08 favourite at her last start when she faced the breeze. SIMPLY SHAZ (1) is racing consistently and should be thereabouts from the pole draw. DONTBESILLYCHILLI (2) upset the favourite two starts back and must be considered from her nice barrier. MISS LAMARR (4) is racing well and won’t be far away. Tips: 5 1 2 4 Suggested Bet: WONDERFUL TO FLY (5) to win. Race 10 ARTFUL MAJOR (5) had his Golden Slipper campaign torpedoed when he struck severe interference at his last start and he will be out to pick up a consolation prize tonight. THELITTLE MASTER (7) ran a strong 3rd in the Golden Slipper and has the strength to overcome his wide draw. THENU CAME ALONG (1) led throughout at his last start and should lead and give them something to catch again. PETES HONOUR (2) has won his last two starts in easier company and should be thereabouts from his nice draw. Tips: 5 7 1 2 Suggested Bet: ARTFUL MAJOR (5) to win. Market Market
