Trent Cooper’s Gloucester Park Preview Posted on August 24, 2023 | Posted by Trent Cooper Race 1 MY ULTIMATE BAXTER (2) is first-up but was a 1.52.1 Menangle winner two starts back and should prove hard to beat at his WA debut. LAMANDIER (1) led throughout to defeat a weaker field at his last start and must be considered from the pole despite the rise in class. HIGH PRICE (5) drops in class and can make his presence felt but is drawn outside his two main rivals. PELIGROSO (3) is racing consistently and shouldn’t be far away. Tips: 2 1 5 3 Suggested Bet: MY ULTIMATE BAXTER (2) to win. Race 2 MEA CULPA (1) led throughout here in good time two starts back before being forced to go too quick in the early stages when 2nd to Whatabro at his last start. He looks the likely leader again tonight and is clearly the one to beat. WATTS UP SUNSHINE (3) followed an all-the-way victory with a strong 2nd from the breeze here last week and is the obvious danger. SHEEZ OUR HOPE (4) led throughout to beat a weaker field here last week and can play a part. ALCOPONY (5) is first-up but raced in strong company last time in and can figure. Tips: 1 3 4 5 Suggested Bet: MEA CULPA (1) to win. Race 3 WHOS THE DAD (8) has been placed in ten of his past 11 starts and bounced back from a disappointing effort with a fast-finishing 2nd from a similar draw here last week. He is drawn poorly but he has the class to be prominent. HILLVIEW BONDI (3) found his best form when leading throughout in 1.55.6 here last week and looks a major player again. ONESMARTFELLA (2) is drawn to be in the firing line throughout and is a winning chance. BLUE BLAZER (1) races well o the pegs and looks a good place chance. Tips: 8 3 2 1 Suggested Bet: WHOS THE DAD (8) to win. Race 4 MIGHTY RONALDO (2) resumed with a fast-finishing 2nd and will be hard to beat in a race that should have more tempo. TENZING BROMAC (3) defeated MIGHTY RONALDO (2) in that event and looks his main danger again tonight. GALACTIC STAR (1) led throughout over this distance three starts and he should play a part from the pole. PATRONUS STAR (5) has been racing consistently without winning this time in but is always dangerous with the right trip. Tips: 2 3 1 5 Suggested Bet: MIGHTY RONALDO (2) to win. Race 5 WAVERIDER (1) scored his fourth victory from as many starts when he was the fastest heat winner and he is clearly the one to beat after coming up with the pole draw. THELITTLE MASTER (3) has won his last five starts and looks the main danger to the favourite. GREVIS (10) is a rung below the best 2YO’s but he is drawn to get a lovely run on the pegs and looks a great place chance. TEN TO THE DOZEN (7) has won his last five starts in WA but has a tough draw to overcome. Tips: 1 3 10 7 Suggested Bet: WAVERIDER (1) to win. Race 6 WONDERFUL TO FLY (8) won four on end before she couldn’t make up the required ground when 2nd to Steno at her last start. She is likely to go forward at the start here and looks a class above her opposition. ROCKNROLL SASS (1) led throughout here two starts back and has the draw to ensure she should be in the finish. AMERICAN ARMA (5) was only four metres behind the favourite at her last start and is the other class runner of this field. MISSTIANO (4) was a solid winner in weaker company at her last start and can be placed. Tips: 8 1 5 4 Suggested Bet: WONDERFUL TO FLY (8) to win. Race 7 CHAL PATCH (8) hasn’t been seen since he was an unlucky 3rd here six weeks ago and looks the one to beat if he is close to his best. COOPER (4) ran on nicely to finish 3rd at Pinjarra at his last start and will give them something to catch if he can find the front here. MR FANTASTIC (9) is an inconsistent type but he is capable of winning this event if he puts his best foot forward. EXTRAORDINARY MARY (1) has won two of her last four starts, both from the stand, and should be thereabouts from the pole. Tips: 8 4 9 1 Suggested Bet: CHAL PATCH (8) to win. Race 8 AUGUST MOON (9) is the state’s best filly who has won six of her last seven starts and is clearly the one to beat despite drawing the widest barrier. OUR SANDY SHORE (1) has only been placed once in her four starts back from a spell but she looks a sharp improver from the pole tonight and should give a great sight. SWEET IVY (5) hasn’t finished further back than 2nd in her seven career starts and should be in the finish again. GLIDING STAR (6) won three of her last five starts before going for a break but will find this harder from out here. Tips: 9 1 5 6 Suggested Bet: OUR SANDY SHORE (1) each way. Race 9 ALTA RHETT (8) has only been placed in two of his last ten starts but he drops in class for this assignment and can run a race at good each way odds. MAJOR OVERS (7) is a 3YO taking on the older horses but he is racing well and should make his presence felt. RODASI (1) comes right into contention from the pole draw and should give a great sight. CARRERA MACH (2) has finished towards the rear in his last five starts but can improve sharply tonight. Tips: 8 7 1 2 Suggested Bet: ALTA RHETT (8) each way. Race 10 SIMPLY SHAZ (1) has been unplaced in her last seven starts but her effort here last week was full of merit and she gets her chance to break back into the winners’ circle tonight. BEAT CITY (7) has been racing well in stronger company and is the obvious danger. REGAL CHEVAL (3) led when a close-up 4th here last week and can make things interesting early. BROOKIES JET (2) doesn’t have the class of his main rivals but can be placed from his nice draw. Tips: 1 7 3 2 Suggested Bet: SIMPLY SHAZ (1) to win. Market Market
