Scott Embry’s Saturday Junction Preview Posted on August 24, 2023 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 SAINTLY CITY hasn’t raced for 482 days and has clearly had a few issues in between preparations. He has had two recent trials, beaten 2.5L Cut The Cord (races as favourite on Thursday at Northam) and then was only a head off Pacific Lady for junior rider Bailey Webster. Lewis German takes the ride and he’s quick enough to lead them a merry dance. WHAT SHOUT has her first-up run and while she may want further Ash Maley always targets Junction. CAPE PRIDE has had a big preparation and covered some kilometres. Racing consistently. MADAME PRO has shown plenty but the draw is awkward. Numbers: 3 – 5 – 2 – 6 Suggested Bet – SAINTLY CITY WIN RACE 2 ALBERT looks an ideal Junction type. First-up last preparation at Geraldton in an 1113m maiden he sat up on speed and won by 4.5L. Ran some massive races in C1/C2 company at Geraldton throughout last season and it would be no surprise to see him try and cross early. Nice race for him. RAGING BEAUTY has barrier 1 and has been racing consistently well at Carnarvon since joining Peter Moses. SET THE SCENE has had a month’s freshen and no doubt Set The Scene has been aimed up at this. AURMAN ZOU can run well fresh. Numbers: 4 – 3 – 1 – 6 Suggested Bet – ALBERT WIN RACE 3 MOORUMBINE finished second behind Major Impact two starts ago at Carnarvon in a 56+ 1000. He hasn’t quite been as brilliantly out of the machine this preparation (last three career wins are leading throughout) but he can kick through to stay close handy behind Lo Lo Lonhro. LO LO LONHRO comes down from Broome and has the speed to lead this. He is an honest customer who gives a kick on straightening. MYSTERY MAN has been racing well on the dirt since joining Glen Cortes. NOTHERN RULER didn’t have much luck at his return from a freshen. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 3 – 5 Suggested Bet – MOORUMBINE WIN RACE 4 SHAMARA improved sharply last start in a 56+ 1200 at Port Hedland behind Amelia’s Belief and Shy Boy. The start prior finished fourth behind Amelia’s Belief and the second horse was Our Kiwi Princess who won on Ladies Day at Broome just last week. Looks a good set up for her out to 1400m. JUPITERS SUN comes right back in grade and if he leaves cleanly can work across into a prominent position. NICK OF TIME has been racing well at Carnarvon but always gets back. GAPSBETWEENTHEEARS is a maiden but if she leads she might be hard to catch. Numbers: 4 – 1 – 6 – 8 Suggested Bet – SHAMARA WIN RACE 5 YANKEE LIMA found form towards the end of the Broome Season and you would think that he is the reason that Darryn Pateman has trucked a team down to Junction. He won a 58_ 1600, a 58+ 1800 and then went around in the Broome Cup last Saturday when beaten 5.5L. On the quick back-up, back to 1900m and capable of working forward from a wide gate. In form at the right time. KAZKAZI was a ripper run at Belmont Park last weekend. Unknown on the Junction surface but great placement by Jordan Rolfe. MAN FROM MEMPHIS took an eternity to win a second race but all of a sudden he’s in career best form. AUGUSTA RED has really appreciated the dirt style of racing. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 10 – 8 Suggested Bet – YANKEE LIMA WIN RACE 6 THE CROWN PRINCE has found his feet on the dirt. He won a 56+ 1400 at Carnarvon in May and another in July and then last star finished second to Highest Regard. This is a very similar quality of race and he looks like he’ll sit out wide and wind up into it. MAGIC OF ZEUS has teased all preparation. Second at Roebourne, second at Port Hedland, second at Roebourne before just tapering off a little recently. ROCKING THE MERC has been a great find for Darryn Pateman this season. Hard to fault. ROMMELS RETURN next best. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 6 – 7 Suggested Bet – THE CROWN PRINCE WIN Quaddie (Race 3 – 6) 1,2,3,5 1,4,6,8,9 1,2,4,6,8,10 1,2,6 Market Market
