Trent Cooper’s Gloucester Park Preview Posted on January 19, 2023March 10, 2023 | Posted by Trent Cooper Race 1 BALTIC ACE (1) has been battling bad draws but gets his chance to press for an all-the-way victory from the pole here and should give a sight over the sprint trip. ETON ROCK (10) disappointed as a $1.34 favourite at his last start but will enjoy a soft trip on the pegs and he can sprint quickly. ARMED REACTOR (6) was also beaten as a short-priced favourite at his last start but they did go 1.54.7 in that event. ROCKNROLL ELLIOT (8) is racing well but isn’t suited by the draw and short trip. Tips: 1 10 6 8 Suggested Bet: ETON ROCK (10) each way. Race 2 VALENTINES BROOK (4) ended a sequence of five 2nds with a strong win here at his last start and should fight out the finish again. MIRRAGON (5) is back to his best form and has the gate speed to make things interesting in the early stages. RUN FOR MERCY (1) was a 1.54.7 winner at her last start and the rise in class is offset by her perfect draw. LUCKY GALLEON (11) loomed as the winner but peaked on his run here last week and should be thereabouts again. Tips: 4 5 1 11 Suggested Bet: VALENTINES BROOK (4) to win. Race 3 HANDSANDWHEELS (3) has been placed in three of his five starts back from a long spell and should be fit enough to be driven aggressively against this line-up. MACHNIFICENT (7) hasn’t had much luck of late and will be charging home if there is a solid early tempo. DISCO UNDER FIRE (1) led throughout here two starts back and can play a part from the pole. MEA CULPA (4) has won three of his last five starts and loves the sprint trip but goes up in class tonight. Tips: 3 7 1 4 Suggested Bet: HANDSANDWHEELS (3) to win. Race 4 PRINCE OF PLEASURE (3) hasn’t had much luck at his last two starts in this company but is drawn to be prominent throughout here and should give a great sight. LAVRA JOE (9) is the best horse in the race but he is drawn poorly and may not be put into the race in the early stages. RAGAZZO MACH (6) was a unlucky 2nd here last week and can play a part with the right run in transit. SANGUE REALE (2) jumps significantly in class on his consecutive wins but can give some cheek if he crosses the polemarker at the start. Tips: 3 9 6 2 Suggested Bet: PRINCE OF PLEASURE (3) to win. Race 5 PINNY TIGER (4) jumped straight to the front and defeated an almost identical field last week and should repeat the dose. TENZING BROMAC (3) faced the breeze and battled on well to finish 3rd in that event and looks the only danger. MOONLITE DRIVE (1) settled last and couldn’t make up any ground in the same heat but looks a big improver from the pole. ORLANDO BLUE (6) was well driven to win his heat and looks a place chance if he can get the right cart into the race. Tips: 4 3 1 6 Suggested Bet: PINNY TIGER (4) to win. Race 6 SHADOW ROLL (4) has been unplaced in his four runs this time in but he drops in class and has the hood added so can improve sharply. TELLMETOATTACK (7) has a losing sequence of 25 but ran a nice 5th in a stronger field here last week and must be considered. SPECIAL LADY (6) has been placed in two of her past three starts and that is strong form against this line-up. GEE SMITH (10) is drawn to get a soft run on the pegs and should be thereabouts if he sees daylight at the right time. Tips: 4 7 6 10 Suggested Bet: SHADOW ROLL (4) to win. Race 7 IM THEMIGHTYLUCY (1) went to a new level last time in and won six of her nine starts in her campaign. She resumes here without a trial but has the advantage of the pole draw and will give a great sight first-up. CHERISHTHEMEMORIES (2) has been placed in her last three starts and put up a career best performance when 3rd in 1.55.4 here last week and is the obvious danger. LITTLE SUZIE (3) was only fair first-up but can improve from this draw. BEYOND THE SEA (6) has impressed in winning her last two starts but goes up in class. Tips: 1 2 3 6 Suggested Bet: IM THEMIGHTYLUCY (1) to win. Race 8 JOE WITH THE FLOW (1) is one-dimensional but he did lead throughout in 1.56.7 over this distance four starts back and a repeat of that effort will make him very hard to beat. MASTER YOSSI (11) has finished just behind the placegetters in his three runs back from a spell and will appreciate the drop in class here. ATHABASCAN (10) is drawn to follow the polemarker and will be dangerous if he can see daylight early enough. CARRERA MACH (9) has close to the best form in the race but the draw makes it tough. Tips: 1 11 10 9 Suggested Bet: MASTER YOSSI (11) each way. Race 9 LUCAPELO (5) showed plenty of ability when last in work and raced against the state’s best 2YO’s. He resumes here without a trial for a new stable so monitor the betting but he should be hard to beat. BRONZED (7) has impressed in winning his last three starts against easier company and he has a race fitness advantage over his main rival. IMPERIUM (4) has won three of his five starts this time in and should be thereabouts again. TELKEM JAY (1) is racing consistently and looks a great place chance from the pole. Tips: 5 7 4 1 Suggested Bet: LUCAPELO (5) to win. Race 10 PATCHED (4) finished his last campaign with four consecutive 2nds and resumed with a similar result when defeated by SKY EAGLE (2) in a photo-finish after running into trouble. He should be fitter for that effort and is clearly the one to beat. SKY EAGLE (2) led throughout to win that race and must be considered again. PAPA RAZZI (1) was first-up when a close-up 3rd in the same race and should play a part from the pole. CHUMANI (3) was only 2.3m from the winner in that race and should be thereabouts again. Tips: 4 2 1 3 Suggested Bet: PATCHED (4) to win. Market Market
