Trent Cooper’s Gloucester Park Preview Posted on December 16, 2021December 16, 2021 | Posted by Trent Cooper Race 1 HESASHARK (1) has been placed in two of his three starts since arriving in WA and looks the likely leader and one to beat here from the pole draw. MIDDLEPAGE (3) was an impressive 1.56.4 winner at his first run back from a spell and is drawn to be prominent throughout. MASTER LEIGHTON (10) is drawn to get a soft run on the pegs and should be thereabouts. PALATINO (2) has good gate speed and would be hard to beat if he did find the front. Tips: 1 3 10 2 Suggested Bet: MASTER LEIGHTON (10) each way. Race 2 GAMBIT (6) disappointed at his last start but would be extremely hard to beat if he reproduces either of his previous two efforts. INFATUATION (1) hasn’t had a chance to lead for quite some time and should give a great sight from the pole. ALTA RHETT (10) has been placed at his last four starts and is capable of upsetting the fancied pair if the race is run to suit. ROCK ME OVER (11) wasn’t suited when caught in the breeze at his last start and can improve sharply with a better run in transit. Tips: 6 1 10 11 Suggested Bet: ALTA RHETT (10) each way. Race 3 DOUBLE EXPRESSO (10) returned to something like her best form when winning here last week and will be hard to beat if she has any luck from her awkward draw. ARMA INDIE (1) led throughout to defeat to beat moderate opposition here last week. She goes up in class tonight but will lead and give them something to catch. HEEZ OUR PERSEUS (7) led throughout here last week and looks a major player again but won’t find it as easy from out here. CARRERA MACH (4) was a sound 3rd here last week and should be thereabouts again. Tips: 10 1 7 4 Suggested Bet: DOUBLE EXPRESSO (10) to win. Race 4 MINSTREL (6) resumed with a solid 2nd after facing the breeze. He will be fitter for that effort and should run a bold race tonight at each way odds. MAGNIFICENT STORM (9) had his colours lowered when 3rd here last week after facing the breeze and will be fitter but has a tough draw top overcome. WILDWEST (1) was crossed from this draw two starts back but this line doesn’t appear as quick and he will be hard to catch if he can hold up at the start. CHICAGO BULL (8) is first-up but has been backed in early markets so must be respected. Tips: 6 9 1 8 Suggested Bet: MINSTREL (6) each way. Race 5 FINVARRA (2) may be a rung below JUMPINGJACKMAC (3) but does have a good record when drawing inside his stablemate and should give a great sight here. JUMPINGJACKMAC (3) comfortable defeated a similar field last week but may not get it all his own way tonight. TYPHOON BANNER (1) has been placed at his five starts and has options from the pole. THE IDEAL TOUCH (11) was ultra-impressive in winning his last start in 1.55.0 from the breeze but will need a bit of luck to upset his better drawn stablemates. Tips: 2 3 1 11 Suggested Bet: FINVARRA (2) to win. Race 6 MAJOR MARTINI (6) won as he liked at his first two starts back from a spell before not handling the rise in class in a hot field. He meets an easier line-up tonight and is suited by the small field. MANNING (4) was a strong winner from the breeze and will be hard to beat if he can bully his way to the front. JUST WING IT (1) is racing well in stands and shouldn’t be far away from the pole. AL GUERRERO (5) was a brilliant 1.54.8 all-the-way winner at his last start but might not be able to find the top here. Tips: 6 4 1 5 Suggested Bet: MAJOR MARTINI (6) to win. Race 7 BEAT CITY (5) was an easy Narrogin stand winner before testing Heez Our Perseus here last week and is the horse to beat. NOTA BENE DENARIO (10) was a solid 2n to Glenledi Chief at his first run back from a break and looks a major player. DOUBLE UP (9) has won eight of his past 11 starts and must be considered first-up. GEE SMITH (1) has been placed in six of his past seven starts and is the likely leader here but normally finds one better. Tips: 5 10 9 1 Suggested Bet: BEAT CITY (5) to win. Race 8 SAHARA STORM (2) has won two of her three starts since crossing the Tasman and looks the leader here and is clearly the one to beat. SHEEZ OUR HOPE (4) has a 50% winning strike rate and is capable of upsetting the favourite if the breaks go her way. QUEEN SHENANDOAH (8) was a 1.54.7 winner over Balcatherine at her last start but the draw makes it tough. FIFTY FIVE REBORN (7) is the other class mare of the field but is likely to have to work hard in the run. Tips: 2 4 8 7 Suggested Bet: SAHARA STORM (2) to win. Race 9 YOURE SO FINE (8) was a strong winner from the breeze against a similar field at his last start and looks the winner again. PAUL EDWARD (6) hasn’t looked like beating YOURE SO FINE (8) but has run 2nd to him twice recently and can finish in the quinella position again. BATTLESCARD (4 led when a 2.7m 3rd to the favourite at his last start and shouldn’t be far away again. MAUNGATAHI (2) has been racing in weaker company but can be placed if he gets to the pegs early. Tips: 8 6 4 2 Suggested Bet: YOURE SO FINE (8) to win. Race 10 AMERICAN ARMA (6) has won five of her eight career starts and will strip fitter for her first-up 3rd after facing the breeze. NEVERMINDTHECHAOS (3) has performed well from bad barriers at her three runs back from a spell and can make the most of the barrier advantage over her main rivals tonight. NEWSY (9) has been placed in eight of her ten starts this time in but looks set to do all of the work again here. LADY JADORE (7) did defeat AMERICAN ARMA (6) recently but isn’t as well drawn tonight. Tips: 6 3 9 7 Suggested Bet: AMERICAN ARMA (6) to win. Market Market
