Trent Cooper’s Gloucester Park Preview Posted on November 25, 2021November 26, 2021 | Posted by Trent Cooper Race 1 MACHNIFICENT (1) broke back into the winners’ circle with a narrow but impressive victory here last week. He is drawn to shoot for an all-the-way win tonight and looks the one to beat. BEAT CITY (2) was a strong 2nd from the breeze at his first run back from a break and can trail the leader if desired. SOHO BOLLINGER (8) crosses the Nullabor with very good Victorian form but has a tough draw to overcome. THE IDEAL TOUCH (5) goes up in class on his last start win but his sectionals indicate he is up to the task. Tips: 1 2 8 5 Suggested Bet: MACHNIFICENT (1) to win. Race 2 MIRRAGON (1) has resumed in solid form with two 3rds and a 4th after starting from awkward barriers. He looks the leader from the pole tonight and should prove very hard to catch. THE WHITE RABBIT (2) was an impressive 15m winner at his start and looks the obvious danger. ALICE KAY (11) won a recent Byford trial in solid time and should enjoy a nice trip from her trailing draw. ROCKABALL (5) had no luck at his last start but can be placed on his previous form. Tips: 1 2 11 5 Suggested Bet: MIRRAGON (1) to win. Race 3 BACK IN TWENTY (1) led throughout to win in blistering fashion here at his last start and is clearly the one to beat from the pole. MY CARBON COPY (10) is racing well and drawn to get the run of the race and looks the likely danger. IM SOXY (5) has resumed with three placings in good company and just needs some luck from his awkward gate to figure in the finish. GAMBIT (8) was an eye-catching 2nd to Major Martini here last week but the draw makes it tough. Tips: 1 10 5 8 Suggested Bet: BACK IN TWENTY (1) to win. Race 4 PERFECT MAJOR (1) isn’t racing at his best but draws the pole tonight and gets his chance to break back into the winners’ circle. WILDWEST (5) hit the line nicely here last week and will be charging home if there is a solid tempo. HAMPTON BANNER (6) has utilised his brilliant gate speed to lead throughout at his past six starts and will be hard to catch if he can cross at the start without having to do too much work. BETTORSTARTDREAMING (2) gets his chance to find the pegs and he did run 3rd to Hurricane Harley in slick time here recently. Tips: 1 5 6 2 Suggested Bet: PERFECT MAJOR (1) to win. Race 5 BORN TO BOOGIE (10 started from this draw when defeating BALCATHERINE (7) in the Norms Daughter Classic and this race looks to map almost identically. SAVVY BROMAC (1) is better known as a sit-sprint mare but she gets her chance to lead tonight and should give a great sight. BALCATHERINE (7) was a strong 2nd in that event after facing the breeze and should strip fitter second-up. WAINUI CREEK (2) started favourite when 4th in a similar field at her last start and shouldn’t be far away again. Tips: 10 1 7 2 Suggested Bet: BORN TO BOOGIE (10) to win. Race 6 DOUBLE EXPRESSO (10) resumes from a short break and is the class runner of this field but will need luck from her awkward draw. ROCK ME OVER (7) was held up for a run in a considerably stronger field here last week and will appreciate the drop in class. ARMA INDIE (1) hasn’t impressed this time in but she has been starting from bad draws and is a likely improver tonight. DOMINATE THE DOJO (4) can play a part if he can use his gate speed to find a position on the pegs in the early stages. Tips: 10 7 1 4 Suggested Bet: DOUBLE EXPRESSO (10) to win. Race 7 FINVARRA (6) maintained his barrier advantage throughout to defeat JUMPINGJACKMAC (7) at his last start and can repeat the dose if driven in the same manner. JUMPINGJACKMAC (7) looks to be a slightly better horse than his stablemate but draws outside him again. BLITZEMBYE (4) has impressed in winning four of his five starts in WA but rises considerably in class for this assignment. PADDITUDE (2) can be placed if he hits the rails and sits on one of the fancied runners. Tips: 6 7 4 2 Suggested Bet: FINVARRA (6) to win. Race 8 FIVE BANGLES (2) found the front and dashed home in 56.5 to win comfortably at her first run back from and appeals as the one to beat from her nice draw. IN THE SPOTLIGHT (9) ran a close-up 3rd to the boys in good time here last week and looks a major player despite the wide barrier. THE HOPE DIAMOND (1) has finished towards the rear at her last three starts but hasn’t had much luck and can improve from the pole. QUEENINTHECORNER (7) has impressed in winning her two race starts but will find it harder from out here tonight. Tips: 2 9 1 7 Suggested Bet: FIVE BANGLES (2) to win. Race 9 HEEZ OUR PERSEUS (4) was blocked for a run at his first start back from a break but then hit the line powerfully when narrowly beaten in slick time in a stronger field last week and is clearly the one to beat. MCARDLES GEM (1) has been placed in three of his past four starts and looks the main danger from the pole draw. JESSE ALLWOOD (2) is drawn to get a soft run on the pegs and looks a good place chance. OUR SHELLEY BEACH (7) is racing extremely consistently but the wide draw makes it tough. Tips: 4 1 2 7 Suggested Bet: HEEZ OUR PERSEUS (4) to win. Race 10 MAJESTIC COURTNEY (8) looked the winner in the run but hit a wheel and broke at his first run in WA and looks capable of overcoming the wide draw here. NO REPUBLIC (6) is a consistent trotter who should be thereabouts again. TOKYO JOE (5) finished alongside NO REPUBLIC (6) at his last start and can make his presence felt. MY MDINA (3) is a safe trotter who lacks the class of some of her rivals but can be placed. Tips: 8 6 5 3 Suggested Bet: MAJESTIC COURTNEY (8) to win.
