Trent Cooper’s Gloucester Park Preview Posted on July 1, 2021July 1, 2021 | Posted by Trent Cooper Race 1 GAMBIT (7) has his first start in WA after taking on NZ’s best pacers in his previous campaign. He finished down the track in the Auckland Cup at his last start but that is a very good form line for a race of this nature if he is anywhere near right first-up. POCKET THE CASH (1) has won two of his last three starts in easier company and should give a great sight from the pole. SHANWAY (2) has been placed in six of his past eight starts and should be in the finish again. HENWOOD BAY (3) is very honest and won’t be far away. Tips: 7 1 2 3 Suggested Bet: POCKET THE CASH (1) each way. Race 2 MINI MINE YET (1) won here five starts back but has battled back line and wide draws in her subsequent runs. She gets the pole tonight and can take it right up to her male rivals. REBEL WITH A GRIN (3) was a nice 3rd here in stronger company and looks a major player from his nice draw. BAYLAN JETT (10) will strip fitter for his first-up 5th and is drawn to get a soft run on the pegs. DISCO UNDER FIRE (2) wasn’t suited when caught in the breeze here last start but must be considered on his previous form. Tips: 1 3 10 2 Suggested Bet: BAYLAN JETT (10) each way. Race 3 AL GUERRERO (2) bounced back to his best when leading throughout here at his last start. He looks the likely leader again and will take plenty of catching. VALBONNE (3) ran a nice 3rd in stronger company here last week and should settle close to the leader. POWERPLAY (10) is likely to land three back on the pegs and can be in the money if he sees daylight at the right time. ROCKNROLL WHITBY (1) doesn’t have the class of most of his rivals but is drawn to get the run of the race and can be placed. Tips: 2 3 10 1 Suggested Bet: AL GUERRERO (2) to win. Race 4 PATRONUS STAR (3) found the front but couldn’t handle the pressure from Shockwave when an 8m 5th to that star pacer here last week. This is an easier assignment and he looks the one to beat. PERFECT MAJOR (4) fought on well to be a 4m 3rd in the same race and should be right in the finish again. MAJOR TIMES (6) ran on well to defeat Chicago Bull at his last start and must be considered despite the wide draw. VAMPIRO (7) has the speed to cross at the start if desired and would give them something to catch in that role. Tips: 3 4 6 7 Suggested Bet: PATRONUS STAR (3) to win. Race 5 WONDERFUL TO FLY (5) has impressed in winning her last three starts and should make it four on end tonight. TAKING THE MIKI (6) is racing well and is the obvious danger after chasing home the favourite last week but is drawn outside her main rival. CHAMPAGNE EVERYONE (3) ran on well to finish 3rd to the favoured pair and can be placed again. DONTBESILLYCHILLI (11) is an improving type who wasn’t far away last week and can be placed at odds. Tips: 5 6 3 11 Suggested Bet: WONDERFUL TO FLY (5) to win. Race 6 DREDLOCK ROCKSTAR (1) was a nice 3rd to Minstrel at his last start and will be hard to beat if he leads or sits from his perfect draw tonight. THEREUGO (4) is racing quite well but his winning chances will be determined if he can cross quickly at the start without having to do too much work. JIMMY MACK (2) has finished out of the money in all six starts this time in but has found the right field to return to form. TIFFANY ROSE (5) ran a nice 3rd to Will I Rocknroll here last week and may be working back to her best form. Tips: 1 4 2 5 Suggested Bet: DREDLOCK ROCKSTAR (1) to win. Race 7 MINSTREL (10) was a strong winner of the Golden Nugget before failing in the Chariots Of Fire at Menangle before going for a spell. He resumed with a comfortable 8m win at Pinjarra and should be able to overcome his 30m handicap tonight. MAJOR ARTIST (4) led throughout from the stand two starts back and will give some cheek if he finds the top here. TRIROYALE BRIGADE (7) looks better suited here over the longer trip than when 5th to Major Artist and should be thereabouts. FLYING MISTER IDEAL (6) looks the next best. Tips: 10 4 7 6 Suggested Bet: MINSTREL (10) to win. Race 8 BALCATHERINE (8) hasn’t been seen for a month but has been racing the state’s best pacers and will appreciate a massive drop in class. FIFTY FIVE REBORN (6) was a strong all-the-winner here last week and should give a good sight again. MISS LIMELIGHT (3) drew poorly at her first run back from a spell but has won nine of her 20 career starts and looks the likely leader tonight. QUEEN SHENANDOAH (7) didn’t have any luck here last week but ran a nice 2nd to Minstrel at her previous run and should be charging home. Tips: 8 6 3 7 Suggested Bet: BALCATHERINE (8) to win. Race 9 BLACKJACK BABY (8) couldn’t catch Bettor Beach Belle at her last start when 2nd to that filly but still appeals as the one to beat despite the wide draw. OUR STAR BILLING (1) has been placed in four of her five starts this time in and should be thereabouts from the pole. RUMOUR HAS IT (7) started favourite and was looking good here last week when the race was called off due to a fallen horse. She isn’t as well drawn here but must be considered. JOELENE (4) hasn’t had any luck in her last two starts and can be an improver tonight. Tips: 8 1 7 4 Suggested Bet: BLACKJACK BABY (8) to win. Race 10 ALTA BLUES (3) recorded back-to-back victories before chasing hard when a strong 2nd to Rakasinc in 1.55.9 at his last start. This looks an easier assignment and he is clearly the one to beat. VESPA (1) has been performing well from bad draws and has options from the pole. NOTA BENE DENARIO (7) backed up eight consecutive placings with a solid 6th to Shockwave in stronger company here last week and is capable of overcoming the wide draw. JASPERVELLABEACH (4) has won two of his last four starts and is a blowout chance. Tips: 3 1 7 4 Suggested Bet: ALTA BLUES (3) to win. Market Market
