Trent Cooper’s Gloucester Park Preview Posted on April 8, 2021April 8, 2021 | Posted by Trent Cooper Race 1 PERFECT MAJOR (7) was unlucky in the Fremantle and WA Pacing Cups and defeated Chicago Bull in between those efforts. He is first-up without a trial and is drawn wide but he is the class pacer of this field. EXTRADITE (6) has used his dazzling gate speed to lead throughout in three of his last four starts and will be hard to catch if he crosses at the start. RAKASINC (2) is a great front-runner who will be hard to beat if he can boot through at the start. THOMSON BAY (3) is flying and will enjoy a nice run just off the speed. Tips: 7 6 2 3Suggested Bet: PLUTONIUM (5) to win. Race 2 BOOM TIME (6) has faced the breeze and been placed at his last three starts. He may have to work hard again but looks a great chance at each way odds. VESPA (2) has won two of his last three starts and should give a great sight after drawing inside his main rivals. PLUTONIUM (5) has won seven of his 19 career starts and looks a major player after being nosed out on the line here last week. BARKLEY (11) did everything right when returning to the winners’ list at his last start and can overcome the draw if he is on his best behaviour. Tips: 6 2 5 11Suggested Bet: BOOM TIME (6) each way. Race 3 ALICE KAY (10) was narrowly beaten in 1.53.8 at her WA debut before working too hard in the last lap when 6th at her last start. She is awkwardly drawn but will be hard to hold out if she sees daylight at the right time. STAR OF DIAMONDS (11) has two wins and three placings from her five starts this time in and should be right in the finish again. MISS LIMELIGHT (2) has battled bad draws at her last three starts but will give a good sight if she can lead here. ADDISYN (1) goes up in class here but has won three of her last four starts. Tips: 10 11 2 1Suggested Bet: ALICE KAY (10) to win. Race 4 GALACTIC STAR (1) led throughout to win here on New Years Eve but his three subsequent runs have been below par. He would win this at his best but must be taken on trust. MIGHTY CONQUEROR (9) has performed well in his three runs this time in including an all-the-way victory at his last start and has the strength to overcome the wide draw. JACK FARTHING (4) resumes here but must be considered on his recent trial win. VULTAN TIN (8) is in top form and can play a part with the right run. Tips: 1 9 4 8Suggested Bet: GALACTIC STAR (1) to win. Race 5 BLACK JACK BABY (1) has won 11 of her 20 career starts and is clearly the one to beat from the pole. She has the gate speed to lead but the query will be if she can run out a strong 2536m at her first go at the distance. ALWAYS AN ANGEL (5) faced the breeze when a strong 2nd to NEWSY (11) at her last start and looks a major player. NEWSY (11) was an impressive winner against a similar field at her last start but goes to the backline tonight. ROYAL ESSENCE (4) is an improving filly who can run a race at big odds. Tips: 1 5 11 4Suggested Bet: ROYAL ESSENCE (4) each way. Race 6 JOE WITH THE FLOW (1) led throughout here two starts back and should find the front and prove hard to catch again. MIRRAGON (6) was well driven to beat a slightly stronger field here last week and must be considered again. SHANWAY (2) crosses the Nullabor with good NSW form and is drawn to be prominent throughout. THE LAST DROP (3) ran on well from just off the speed to defeat Naval Aviator here last week and should get a similar trip tonight. Tips: 1 6 2 5Suggested Bet: JOE WITH THE FLOW (1) to win. Race 7 DIEGO (11) has finished 2nd at his last two starts behind Mighty Conqueror and Miracle Moose and will appreciate the big drop in class tonight. HENWOOD BAY (2) is drawn to get a nice run in transit and should be thereabouts. BEACH SKIPPER (1) led throughout here at his last start and will give some cheek out in front tonight. MISTER ARDEE (10) is drawn to get a soft run on the pegs and can run into the money. Tips: 11 2 1 10Suggested Bet: DIEGO (11) to win. Race 8 J B MAUNEY (11) has been unplaced at his three runs back from a spell but is working his way into form and his best would beat this field. EXTREME PRINCE (3) has finished 3rd at his last two starts and gets his chance from a better draw tonight. RABCHENKO (7) was well-backed here last week but the race wasn’t run to suit. This is an easier assignment and he must be respected. C C CHEVRON (1) hasn’t had much luck of late and her last win was when leading throughout from this barrier. Tips: 11 3 7 1Suggested Bet: J B MAUNEY (11) to win. Race 9 NOTA BENE DENARIO (1) has won four of his six standing start events in NZ and looks very hard to beat at his first run in WA after recording a comfortable Byford trial win. BUDD SIDEWINDER (7) was a strong winner of the Wagin Cup and is racing in the best form of his career. MANOFTHEPEOPLE (2) is a reliable standing start performer who looks a good place chance from his nice draw. REBEL WITH A GRIN (9) was a solid 2nd here two starts back and is one of only a few horses in this field with the strength to work and be placed. Tips: 1 7 2 9Suggested Bet: NOTA BENE DENARIO (1) to win. Race 10 GRIFFIN LODGE (3) has made a big impression with comfortable wins in both of his race starts. He is likely to settle just off the speed and will be hard to hold out. BUSHWACKED (1) wasn’t suited when breezing when 5th to GRIFFIN LODGE (3) at his last start but should lead here and give a sight. BATTLESCARD (2) broke at his last start but had won three of his four starts before that and will be thereabouts from this draw. THE MERCENARY (4) did beat GRIFFIN LODGE (3) in a trial back in December so must be respected. Tips: 3 1 2 4Suggested Bet: GRIFFIN LODGE (3) to win. Market Market
