The Scout: Women’s World Cup Matchday 13 Posted on August 1, 2023August 2, 2023 | Posted by The Scout Group E – Portugal v United States Portugal claimed an important win over Vietnam, and they are in with a shout of making the last 16. It would be a big shock were they to beat the United States, but confidence is high in the camp. Francisca Nazareth shone in the previous game in an attacking midfield role, and she will look to link up again with another exciting youngster in Telma Encarnacao. The United States will be eager to win this game and progress as group winners. They didn’t have it all their own way against the Netherlands and needed Lindsay Horan to step up with an equaliser. Rose Lavelle has had her minutes managed to date but could be in line for a start having made a difference off the bench last time out. United States to win @ $1.28* Group E – Vietnam v Netherlands Vietnam will head home after this game and only have pride to play for. They are heavy underdogs against the Netherlands and have lost their last five fixtures, conceding 18 goals in the process. Nhu Huynh should once again be an isolated figure up front, while Tran Thi Hai Linh could come back into the team after being dropped against Portugal. The Netherlands could top the group on goal difference with a convincing win over Vietnam so expect an attacking approach from the outset. Lineth Beerensteyn is likely to miss a second successive game, while there are doubts about the availability of Stephanie van der Gragt who came off at half time against the United States. Katja Snoeijs and Lieke Martens should get the nod up front again. Netherlands to win @ $1.02* Group D – China v England China need to better Denmark’s result to qualify for the knockouts but will be without Zhang Rui through suspension. Shuang Wang came on as a substitute and scored what proved to be the winning goal against Haiti from the penalty spot. She should start this one as an attacking presence in the final third. England suffered a blow when midfielder Kiera Walsh was stretchered off in the last game with a knee injury, and her participation in the rest of the tournament is in doubt. Lauren James cemented her spot in the team with the winner against Denmark. The Lionesses are already guaranteed a place in the last 16 so may give minutes to some fringe players. England to win @ $1.52* Group D – Haiti v Denmark Haiti have lost both of their games, and felt hard done by against China, but a win against Denmark would give them a shot at qualification. Jennyfer Limage is out with an anterior cruciate ligament injury, but Mechi Dumornay could come back into the starting line up having featured off the bench in the last game. Denmark’s fate is in their own hands, and they will expect to get the win they need to finish at least second in the group. Nicoline Sorensen has been in and out of the team so far but could start, while Pernille Harder will be keen to score her first goal of the tournament. Denmark to win @ $1.33* Multi Portugal v USA – Goal in both halves – Yes Netherlands to score in both halves – Yes England – Win Haiti v Denmark – Both teams to score – No @ 4.42* *Odds correct as at 9am, 1st August 2023.
