The Scout: NBA Thursday Best Bets

Chicago Bulls @ Detroit Pistons

The new look Chicago Bulls take on the young Detroit Pistons in a matchup that features two sides with opposing aspirations for this season.

Chicago was extremely active in the offseason, bringing in Lonzo Ball, DeMar DeRozan and Alex Caruso, to go alongside last season’s signing of Nikola Vucevic. Although we aren’t sure exactly what we will get with the Bulls, it’s going to be fun either way.

Detroit might be the worst team in the NBA this season, with development of young talent their key focus. This season’s number one draft pick, Cade Cunningham, will be exciting, but a lack of experience will hurt the Pistons.

Suggested Bet: Chicago -4.5 (Line) @ $1.90*

Washington Wizards @ Toronto Raptors

Washington’s roster underwent a major overhaul over the offseason, trading out Russell Westbrook and bringing in Kyle Kuzma, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and Montrezl Harrell.

The Raptors have replaced Kyle Lowry with another veteran in Goran Dragic, opening the door for Fred VanVleet to be the focal point and leader of the Toronto offense. For the Wizards, Bradley Beal led the league in scoring last season and will have every opportunity to do the same again.

Both sides aren’t strongly equipped defensively, particularly Toronto who will be without Pascal Siakam as he recovers from shoulder surgery. The Wizards over the past few seasons have been one of the worst defensive teams in the league and there’s nothing to indicate that is about to change.

Suggested Bet: Total Points Over 218 @ $1.91*

Denver Nuggets @ Phoenix Suns

Two teams that will fancy themselves as contenders square off in this exciting fixture as the Nuggets take on the Suns in a replay of the Western Conference Semi Finals of last season.

Unsurprisingly both sides are running it back with essentially the same rosters. Phoenix made some role player additions, bringing Landry Shamet and JaVale McGee, while the Nuggets big upside is a healthy Michael Porter Jr.

Nikola Jokic the reigning MVP and should again stuff the stat sheet this season being in the thick of everything for the Nuggets’ offense. The Suns are a great basketball team but when it comes to Jokic they struggle to find an answer, as do most teams.

Suggested Bet: Nikola Jokic to Record a Triple Double @ $5*

Odds correct as at 1pm, 20th October 2021.
