The Scout: EPL Week 5

Everton vs Liverpool

This Merseyside Derby could be the closest it’s been in a long time with Everton sitting atop the League table and Liverpool back in 5th.

Everton are 4-0 and will genuinely fancy their chances here. The addition of Columbian midfielder James Rodriguez has transformed a Toffees’ attack that is averaging three goals per game.

Liverpool were embarrassed in their last game, on the receiving end of a 7-2 trashing from Aston Villa. The loss caps a shaky start to the season for the defending champions.

Both sides possess potent attacking firepower so expect plenty of goal scoring opportunities. Everton’s spearhead Dominic Calvert-Lewin has scored six goals for the season while Mo Salah has five.

Liverpool have had plenty of time to stew on their last-up performance and I’m backing them to respond like champions.

Suggested Bet: Liverpool Win & Both Teams To Score @ $3*

Leicester City vs Aston Villa

A clash between 3rd placed Leicester who are coming off a shock 3-0 defeat at the hands of West Ham, and  2nd placed (!) Aston Villa fresh of their 7-2 demolition job of Liverpool.

Leicester haven’t been as sound defensively as they were last season, conceding seven goals through four games, and getting scorched by teams on the counter attack.

There’s every chance this plays into the hands of the pacey Villa attack led by Ross Barkley, Jack Grealish and Ollie Watkins.

It’s been Grealish in particular who has  impressed to this point of the season. The English midfielder has three goals and three assists and has strong claims on being the best player on the pitch when these teams meet.

I’m buying the early season Villa form and think they can cause some real headaches for this Leicester squad.

Suggested Bet: Aston Villa – Draw (Double Chance) @ $1.93*

Leeds United vs Wolverhampton

Leeds (8th) have taken the Premier League by storm looking far from a team previously thought to a be a big relegation chance.

Wolverhampton (13th) have been mediocre (being generous) through four games, scoring just four times while conceding seven.

It’s no secret that Leeds like to attack. They play an extremely aggressive brand of football, not dissimilar to Liverpool who start their attack from the defense.

This chaotic fast paced football has been effective to date and could very well catch a team like Wolves off guard given the manner in which they are playing. Matt Doherty missing from defense hurts too!

Leeds will be pressuring Wolves from the outset here and I think they’ll eventually break them, and come away with the three points.

Suggested Bet: Leeds United (Match Result) @ $2.40*
