The Scout: EPL Week 17 Posted on January 2, 2021January 2, 2021 | Posted by The Scout Newcastle vs Leicester 2020 did not end well for Newcastle (14th) who were unable to find a win in four straight games, while Leicester (3rd) have won five of their last six. Leicester have a superb record away from home, losing just one of their eight road matches this season. They’ve also won their last four matches away to Newcastle. Jamie Vardy is a class above every player in this matchup. The Englishman has 11 goals for the season, and five in his last seven outings against Newcastle. Newcastle have failed to score in back-to-back matches and I’m liking that trend to continue here. Suggested Bet: Leicester Win to Nil @ $2.90* Chelsea vs Manchester City Chelsea ended 2020 winning just one of their last five matches, but are still two spots above Manchester City (8th) who are undefeated in their last six. There is a lot of speculation around the starting XI for City, with COVID-19 quarantine issues, and it looks certain they will be missing key personnel. The Citizens have struggled to score goals all season, with their last five matches all seeing less than three goals. Chelsea have had their own attacking struggles against quality sides; scoring just once in five matches against teams in the top eight of the table. Suggested Bet: Under 2.5 Goals @ $2* Southampton vs Liverpool Southampton (9th) come into this match after back-to-back goalless draws with Fulham and West Ham, and without a victory in their last four Premier League fixtures. Liverpool continue to hold top spot in the league, and also come into this match off the back of consecutive draws. Despite welcoming back Danny Ings, the Saints have have been woeful in front of goal. They’ve scored just once in their last four matches. The defensive struggles of Liverpool are well documented this season, but they may have turned a corner, conceding just three times in their last six outings. Liverpool have won six straight against Southampton and I like them to add to that here, holding the Saints goalless for a fourth straight game. Suggested Bet: Liverpool Win to Nil @ $3.30* Market Market
