The Scout: A-League Week 6 Posted on December 24, 2021December 24, 2021 | Posted by The Scout Melbourne Victory vs Western United Melbourne Victory (3rd) are looking dangerous and come into this match off the back of an impressive 2-2 draw against defending champions Melbourne City in the derby. Western United (2nd) have won four in a row, all by the same score line of 1-0. Western United have been fantastic this season and can reward all their success to their rock-solid defense. They have kept a clean sheet in four out of their five games so far in the A League but interestingly their only goal conceded this season was against Victory. Despite their impressive defense record, Western United do not score many goals and do not have a very potent attack. Melbourne Victory have the best of both worlds with a very dangerous attack combined with a sound defensive formation. This will be an exciting round as two of the A League’s best teams do battle but the attacking flair and game winning ability of Victory will be the difference maker as they beat Western United for a second time this season. Suggested Bet: Victory Win @ $2.04* Macarthur FC vs Sydney FC Macarthur FC are the only undefeated team in the A League with four wins and one draw, putting them at the top of the ladder. Sydney FC sit 8th and have struggled so far this season but come into this match off the back of their first victory, a 2-1 win over Wellington. Macarthur manager Ante Milicic has done tremendously with his side, and they have crafted a perfect game plan that they execute week in week out. They set up defensively and look to control the ball and patiently wait for an opening for a counter-attack opportunity. Sydney have not looked good this season and although they will keep this match a fiercely contested affair, they simply do not execute as well as their opponents. Macarthur under Milicic have perfected the art of winning narrow victories and will be too good for a struggling Sydney outfit. Suggested Bet: Macarthur WIN @ $3.00* Central Coast Mariners vs Wellington Phoenix The Central Coast Mariners are on a roll and sit in 4th place on the ladder after winning back to back matches by a 2-0 score line. Wellington Phoenix’s position on the ladder has taken a massive hit after losing three straight matches and find themselves in 10th place. At home the Mariners have transformed into a different team and have come out aggressive from the opening whistle and do not stop applying pressure. Central Coast have played their last two matches at home and will take on the Phoenix once again on home soil giving them a significant advantage. Wellington have been in terrible form and have severely struggled in attack and have only managed to score once during their last three games. Against a Mariners side on their home turf the Phoenix will once again struggle to create any threats at goal while the home side will look to win their third straight match. Suggested Bet: Mariners Win @ $2.20* *Odds correct as at 7am, 24th December 2021. Market Market
