Sully’s State Of Origin Game 3 Preview Posted on July 11, 2017 | Posted by James Sullivan It’s the “Showdown at Suncorp”. The decider in one of the world’s greatest sporting rivalries. New South Wales will return to the ground where they blew Queensland off the park in game one. Then Queensland defied all the odds in a second half comeback to win game two in Sydney to get us to this point. The Maroons head into this clash with more new faces in debutant Cameron Munster who becomes their third Number 6 in this series and the surprise selection of Ben Hunt off the bench. The loss of Jonathan Thurston & Darius Boyd with a combined total of 65 Origin Games between them looms as a significant factor in the match. The Blues however head to Suncorp with an unchanged squad with Skipper Boyd Cordner and Dragons duo Tyson Frizell and Josh Dugan all cleared to play. Is this the end of a Queensland Origin dynasty? They were on the ropes in game one, bounced off them as they seem to do in game two and now look to potentially farewell some of the greats of our game with a victory. New South Wales will need to revert to the game plan that has won them three halves of football throughout this series. They need to continue to take on Queensland through the middle if they are to win only their second series in twelve years. It’s a happy hunting ground for the Maroons who have won 8 of their last 10 matches at Suncorp and there is no tougher assignment than winning there but New South Wales have proved they can go there and win as we saw in game one. I predicted a NSW 2-1 series win at the start of the series and I don’t see any reason to change it. I think the depth of the New South Wales bench will prove the key to victory and that they can get the job done.
